Hello all,
Can anyone tell me about Pattie Brooks' fourth LP, from 1980? It is the one with her eating an apple on the cover, and has the following track listing:
1. I'm On A Winning Streak
2. Reach For My Love
3. Need To Be Back With You
4. I'll Be Your Play Thing
5. Change Your Style Of Love
6. Is This A Set Up?
7. You Can't Love Somebody In Love
8. It's Party Time
I'm familiar with her first three LPs (Love shook, Our Ms. Brooks, Party Girl). All good disco. But does her 1980 LP continue in the same vein? Is it disco, or just soul and ballads, or something else? I'm wondering whether it's worth me spending my pennies on it.
Thanks very much!
Darren
The self titled album was a true gem. This project was produced of an involvee with the Dynamic Superiors. It is includes "Is This A Set Up" that was written by Patti. The record is a lot more soulful than her more disco records done with Simon Soussan. I'd suggest grabbing this and "Party Girl", produced by Bunny Sigler.
You're also missing "It's Party Time" which closed the album out, fyi.
She's the most underrated vocalist of the disco era in my opinion.
