singer DORIS TROY passed away yesterday[mon] in las vegas, cause of death not known yet but she was suffering breathing problems, famous for just one look and her apple recordings but better known in the u.k for her calla side 'ill do anything' re-issued countless times and if you are of a certain age it was part of your growing up,she recorded for midland int in the 70s and last seen on u.k t.v looking 'radiant' on channel 4's northern soul documentry 'starring in cleethorpes' after she wooed the crowd at the cleethorpes weekender,shell be sadly missed :(

I just read this in David Nathan's newsletter. He says they were friends and that he'll be posting a tribute on his website. "Just One Look" --- scary that I just played this a few days ago. It's on the Rhino comp, "THE BIG OL' BOX OF '60s SOUL". You're right 'DD', she was part of my growing up --- a good, fun-loving part --- filled with music.

This is sad news :(


I played her 1 and only hit every year since I first heard it. She had a very distinctive voice... I never could understand why a magical voice like that was mis managed. I'd like to see that link to the tribute... I'll wait til it's posted.
