LISTEN UP!! Disco Mix QUIZ time...

Hello to our big world of DISCO AFFICIONADOS!

Below is a link to a "no particular theme, just funky or jazzy" mix I did up on the 1200's earlier this evening... First one to list all 9 tracks (and they're not that terribly hard) gets... ummm... CONGRATULATED!!!

    http://needletothegroove.net/audio/d...feb2004_lo.asf

While you're at it - any comments on the mix would be cool, remembering this was done without any prep or theming, I just hopped on to practice mixing good ol floating bpm disco, and play some cool stuff i either needed to familarise myself with better.. or tunes I hadn't played in a while... and that's how I like it!

    Cheers! :D

    Bryan,

Listened to your mix, nice blends as far as i can judge,
not a mixer myself but sounds nice even thoug i do not recognize any track. :(

Made a cd from the mix for the archive, consider that a compliment

OK Bryan, we've suffered long enough  . Get back here and tell us who are the missing artists. I'm dying to know who the ladies are on Track 2. I feel I should know this but nothing is coming to mind. Also, Track 6 is a keeper but Track 9, now THAT IS THE JAM. What is this?! Sounds like Deodato or a damn good imitation. Put me out of my misery and let me see if I can find it and throw away some more hard-earned money.

hey thanks!!! always tricky to mix the old tracks - but i love the challenge - and short effective disco mixes are just as good as a long overlay house mix i reckon! :-D

How were you able to beatmatch this?

How were you able to beatmatch these tracks? There is no strong kick drum.

I match by riding the pitch control and speeding up/slowing down on the fly as required... live drummers certainly aren't as accurate as a drum machine and mixing old boogie gets a little hairy at times! fortunately i can hear i've improved a bit since i recorded this early in the year which is good!
