Just curious: What is the consensus of opinion of Costandinos' ROmeo and Juliet?
How do you feel about it?
    Do you like it?
    Please let me know.
    TIA

Well..me being a die hard Costandinos fan I can give ya an oppinion. I think the entire concept was brilliant and very original. Side A (or part one) is pretty much the club hit section. Side B (or part two) is a very creative and diverce musical journey telling the climax to the end of the story in manly instrumental sections and very few lyrics. Starting out very funky eurodisco and ending in a sad but upbeat morning type disco feel and well done and produced. The 2 different 7'' edit versions (UK and US) are worthless and not worth listening to. And the promo 12'' with the 13 min version on it is also pretty worthless and horrably edited (sounds like the record skips in a few places). The best edit of it is my own (which of corse is not released LOL) and theres a near 7 min edit thats not bad for a club track but to hear it as a musical piece it must be heard in the full album length track. Now that i've babbled on I hope I made some kinda sence

Well.....I being of the opposite persuation.........

Sorry to be negative about someone who obviously has many fans, but for me, Costandinos exemplifies everything that was horrible about Disco. I simply can't listen to more than a minute or two before I'm feeling physically sick.
The one exception being Tony Rallo & The Midnite Band - Holdin' On.

Romeo & Juliet shot to the top of the Billboard dance - no, pardon me, DISCO charts :-) when it came out and didn't it stay there quite a while, being very popular late in 1977?And it wasn't just America that fell for it, the track was huge all over the world. A mate reported tout Paris went mad dancing to it. I stepped to it in London every night while there. Massive in Milano. A classic everywhere in other words and side one revives well even today.

I remember when it came out in '77.
My local record shop couldn't keep it in stock.
I Hustled my self out of breath to it
I liked it then and I like it today.
Was able to get a Russian CD off Gemm a year ago which was the first time I'd heard it in 25 years.

    A digression:
What's Tempe like to live in?
I used to travel to Tempe on business back in the '80's
Wife and I are looking to leave the frozen north (Massachusetts). I liked AZ when I traveled there 15 years back.

Hey discoman. Tempe is not somewhere you'd wanna be (unless you enjoy tons of teen agers running around like crazy, making a racket till all hours of the night and basicly like living in the movie "Animal House" 24/7). I myself am getting out of here in the next few weeks or so and moving up to the west valley (this is east valley) to a place called Surprise about an hour away. That would be the ideal place to move to as a seasonal thing or even regular. Theres alot of snowbirds as they call em that come in the winter to escape the snow, cold, etc. Me being from Philladelphia originaly can say..there is a huge difference in weather..theres no Winter here, you got fall and spring when other places have Winter. Now back to the subject on hand  As for my awsome side long edit (lol), Discoman..PM me and Efunk, get hold of me in the usual place we chat. Also, one question..why is everyone saying this LP was 77 when both copys of my LP says 78 and it charted on the disco charts in 78 too? I know it was recorded in 77 though. About the Russian bootlegg CD :o I know the quality on them (at least the few I heard.."Americana", "Winds Of Change" and "Sumeria") were horrable and made from not so great vinyl with crackles throughout and also..bad cueing. Romeo & Juliet had legit CD releases out of Japan & Canada but both are long out of print. The Canadian one wasnt so great though as it was done in the late 80s and sounds very tape like and the Japan one is good and digital mastered from the master tapes but pitched up a tad.

Just got hold of a copy of the album last year after dicovering R&J on
    the Casablanca box.
Loved this piece from the first time i heard it, the
magic that it must have had to the 70's people is still there for me :-)

    Keep on dancing,

Nooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! Avoid the version on the Casablanca Box..thats the US 7'' (45) version clocking in at 4 mins :o That really sucked that they put all 12'' versions on that box of almost everything on there and with that they did the single. Glad you got the original LP :)

DJ Jimmy M, I'll PM you a little later.

    I remember R&J from late '77 to early '78?
Not quite sure, again until I bought the Russian CD it had been 25 years since I heard this so...?
