Name a song(s)that's not on the list that you know got the party kickin.I'm only 33, so please spare me the negative comments...I love music, record collecting, dancing, making beats, and playing the drums. Too me this list is dope, just unorganized for playing sequence, but I want even better, possible instrumentals, one hit wonders, or white label.

AWWWW. Man How could I feel embarrased forgetting people's choice(efunK_adelic), that one of my all time favorites, Tom tom club(nrgbeat) . Man, I'm slippin. (Boogie nites), your right, I gotta throw some early hip hop in there, it would provide spark for the younger ones in the age range..

:-? Where are you coming from with this? Straight people dig this song, too. Don't know about Australia, but over here in the U.S. it was Sylvester's big crossover hit. Pureblend's got a great list going. Don't pigeonhole or stereotype it with jive remarks like that. :x

My apologies, pureblend, for the interruption.

Hello Everyone! (Again... :o ) If you ask me...The ULTIMATE dance party record that gets "EVERYONE" shaking their "thang" is JUNGLE BOOGIE by Kool and The Gang!!!!!!! It "ALWAYS" brings people running to the dance floor like "NO OTHER" song has been able to do!!!! Boogie Down....Mario :D

I'm trying to visualize being at this party... this would be very interesting if the above suggestions pack the floor consistently. I'd be impressed and jump out on the dance floor to:

HIGHER PLANE - KOOL & THE GANG
    BODYHEAT - JAMES BROWN

but I'd probably be the only one out there...

Difficult to call, but I would have thought the COmmodores should be in there somewhere. Even 'Brick House' would get everyone bumpin' and grindin'.

    Some others worth a spin:
Andre Cymone - The Dance Electric (for all the Prince fans, heavy heavy disco funk)
Raydio - Still In The Groove (goodtime funk groove)
Oneness Of Ju Ju - Everyway But Loose (seriously good funky gem)
Jimmy Young - Times Are Tight (instrumental) (good time funk groove)
War - Galaxy (slammin disco funk - a real winnner)
Fantastic Four - B.Y.O.F. (Bring Your Own Funk) (slammin disco funk)
Rhythm Makers - Zone (IMO, the funkiest record ever!! had to get that in)
Captain Sky - I Chewz You or Sir Jam-a-lot (slammin funk0
Roger - Do It Roger (slammin funk)
Wally Badarou - Chief Inspector (go well with hip hop or Go Go)
Billy Preston - Outa Space (for the real Old Skoolers, still funky as hell)
Johnny 'Guitar' Watson - A Real Mother For Ya (slinky funk fest)
George Duke - Reach For It or Dukey Stick (Lowdown dirty grooves)
Carl Carlton - She's A Bad Mama Jama (got to have the odd hit)
Leon Haywood - Don't Push It, Don't Force It (ditto above)
Candido - Jingo (one of THE funk party records in the UK)

Most of these are 114 - 120 BPM, the ideal funk tempo.

Now that simply is the truth, amen. No hipster or any other kind of fingersnapping person will be able to resist that title. I'd add:
Jo Bisso: Lover's Concerto - a 1975 7-incher from France with a seriously funky instrumental side B, wah-wah guitars, bongos, wicked synth sounds
The Hollies: Dragging My Heels - cool almost samba-ish cult fave from 1977 and apparently a respected Garage track, from the Russian Roulette album
Tabou Combo: New York - hard-to-classify polyrhythmic tribal chant thing from 1975

Jussi: I think I'll nominate Zone as the first TRANCE record. With the insistant cowbell, 119 BPM (or thereabouts) tempo, spacey synth, wicked bassline. Sure sends me into a trance!
    Whatd'ya think?

Space is the Place I think that comes to mind, would not be out of place in Goa India either - not that I've been to either of those locations :-)

:D Hey y'all, it's been awhile since I've been on the forum, but now that I'm back, I want to add some suggestions to the playlist for this party which sounds like it will be crazy. Here are some suggestions to stay pretty much with your flow:

The Winners - Get ready for the future
Breakwater - Do it (till the fluid gets hot)
Breakwater - Say you love me girl
    Sun - Sun is here
    Sun - Radiation level
The Crown Heights Affair - Sureshot
B.T. Express - We Got it together
    Mass Production - Firecracker
The Staple Singers - I'll take you there
Eddie Kendricks - Goin' up in smoke
Third World - Now that we found love (to add some caribbean flavor)

    Wish I was there.

One killer track - and apologizies if someone has already quoted it in their extensive lists - would have to be Vernon Burch "Get Up" on Casablanca Records (1979).

From my past experience, it was always a guaranteed floor-filler as it was the track that Deee-Lite completely sampled and ripped off for the huge "Groove Is In The Heart" party anthem!

When you get the the extended section of "Get Up" you will know what I mean: it's the part where the flute kazoo's come in and fluctuate up'n'down alongside the disco-boogie percussion breakdowns. It is all in its full glory on Vernon Burch's "Get Up!" and people instantly recognize it and their mouths drop to the floor and the dancing suddenlt becomes more frenzied!

The 12" might be hard to obtain but the full length version can be found on CD disco comps (mainly ones via Strut/Harmless label in UK).

    Keep smiling, styling & profiling

    In response to Quinny's question:

Yo what's up Quinny? Yes, I am still spinning the happy hour @ Larry Holmes Ringside in Easton, PA. Thanks for asking.
