What is the name of this song???

It starts out sounding like "Dreaming a Dream" by Crown Heights Affair. The words are either Standing or Walking "in the rain, tears in my eyes". It's 70's and I used to play it but can't for the life of me remember what and who it is. Please help.

If you mean sounding like "Dreaming a Dream" because of the hi-hat percussion with the drum, maybe you're looking for "Standing In The Rain" by John Paul Young. They don't sound that similar to me but might be it, especially with the lyrics.

John Paul Jones did Love is in the Air, Right? This song started out like Dreamin a Dream, the instrumental. The male vocal was similar to the Crown Heights voice on Dancin'. It was high pitched. The tempo was similar to Dreamin' and Dancin'. :o . It was either Standing in the Rain or Walking in the rain, tears in my eyes.

John Paul Young did both "LIITA" and "SITR". I just played "Standing..." --- lyrics don't match. There's no reference to 'tears in my eyes'. I'm sure somebody else will come up with the right one.

I even played Don Ray's "Standing In The Rain". So not the one you want but I've got the damn title stuck in my head.

Eddie Kendricks version is the original deal but the cover by Arnie's Love on Profile Records would put me more in mind of "Dreamin' A Dream".
