"Married Men"--the world is full of them!
(I just played this Bette Midler record yesterday!)
"You know you make him feel so young, but his wife is still the number one."
I'll give you a clue. It's on the Atlantic label.

You got it. I played it yesterday too.
Gee, there could be a psychic disco connection here.
Here's another trivia tidbit for ya:
Who else released a 12" version of "Married Men"? I recently ran across it--don't know if it got any play.

Val Kilmer?

Oh, NRG--Talk about setting up one of Marky's routines! (I was going to suggest that you sounded like his straight man, but we've been asked not to discuss sexual ORIENTATION on the site.)
But you've got me too, Marky. Who?

Uh, are you telling me you ain't gonna guess???
Female vocalist.
Had other hits--but not in the dance vein.
Just call me the "loose cannon" of the board.

Well, I just checked and the answer is on allmusic.com, so I may as well spill the beans.
Bonnie Tyler on RCA (1979). I bought it. Haven't listened to it yet. That's the story of my life. Love to go shopping. Then it ends up in a pile in some corner. Paging Christopher Lowell!!!!! Miss Lowell , (not his real name, btw) please organize this mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
I've got both Bette's and Bonnie's versions of "Married Men". Now that you reminded me, perhaps I should dig up the Bonnie Tyler 12" (bought it in 1979, haven't listened to it lately... in about... well, 23 years!).
I recall reading that The Divine Miss M really hated that song and recorded it only because her label told her she needed to release a disco record and that the writers and/or producers involved were hot.
Personally, I think the song is a scream and fits Bette's sassy attitude perfectly. It would be interesting to hear how Bonnie Tyler approached it.
And I'd rather listen to Bette camp it up on "Married Men" than whine her way through saccharine dirges like "From a Distance."

Bette did a song a few years back called "To Deserve You" which I enjoyed. I have the dance mixes.
I agree: "To Deserve You" was a great ballad--I loved the desperate longing in the lyrics and Bette's delivery. And there were some good dance remixes, but some really bad ones too. If I remember correctly, "Arif's Mix" was my favorite because it didn't stray too far from the original (which makes sense, since it was done by the producer). But--as usual these days--some of the remixes were just a mess of electronic trickery totally inappropriate for this song.
And Bette looked awesome in the video for the song too!
