hi SALSOUL1975 ive never seen mahogany, but id say this would be 'lets go back to day one' from the 1975 motown album-magic disco machine DISC-O-TECH MOTOWN M6-82181
Does anybody know what the actual title and the artist who recorded the song is? I'm referring to a scene in Miss Ross' film "Mahagony" where she's at a party with these fashion luminaries and models and there's a song blasting that's got a great beat, and it starts out as "..take me back to Day One...", or something to that effect. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

"Excuse me, Miss Thing, but both of us spent time on that couch"--Blaine Edwards

It's also included on the Mahogany soundtrack, although it's very short. I've misplaced my copy so I can't check the details right now, but I'm pretty sure the artist wasn't credited.
In the movie, Diana drips hot wax from a burning candle all over herself during this song.
The Mahagony Soundtrack version is too short. How long is the other one?
"Let's go back to day one " off the 1975 Discotech(1) Lp is only 2:56 long, no credits are given for any of the musicians, song is written by P. Holloway and G. Jones, arranged by James Carmichael and produced by Hal Davis. This Lp appears to be a compilation of singles from different producers, the cover art was always one of my favorites (apparently recicled in current compilations) with this cool looking 70's chick in platform shoes doing the bump.. :P
That's about the same length as the soundtrack version.
The song may actually sound better in the movie itself, with the additional sound of the party guests clapping along to the music, as Diana does her hot wax dance.
