Hey there you Donna Summer fans. Just read that the 20th Century Masters series is extending to the DVD format. Coming February 24, 2004, "The Best Of Donna Summer - The DVD Collection" and it's priced cheap at only $9.95!
Yes I know about this Century Masters boring project...
ONLY 5 clips included in every DVD... it's a shame and pity!!!
Each DVD features five popular music videos, many of them making their U.S. DVD debuts, for an individual artist. All are digitally remastered -- audio and video. The first releases are "best of" collections for Boyz II Men, New Edition, Kool & The Gang, Tracy Byrd, Billy Ray Cyrus, Tears For Fears, Donna Summer, and The Moody Blues. Details on the R&B and country artists follow.
THE BEST OF BOYZ II MEN (Motown/UMe) highlights the '90s videos for a quartet of #1 pop hits that were also R&B #1 or #2 for the most successful vocal group in history -- "On Bended Knee" (#2 R&B), "I'll Make Love To You" (#1 R&B), "End Of The Road" (#1 R&B) and their teaming with Mariah Carey for "One Sweet Day" (#2 R&B). Also included is "Water Runs Dry" (#2 pop/#4 R&B), whose video was directed by the award-winning Wayne Isham.
THE BEST OF NEW EDITION (Motown/UMe) racks up the videos for three R&B #1s for the '80s teen phenomenon -- "Cool It Now" (#4 pop/#1 R&B), "Mr. Telephone Man" (#12 pop/#1 R&B) and "Can You Stand The Rain." Also seen and heard are "If It Isn't Love" (#7 pop/#2 R&B) and, from their '90s reunion, "I'm Still In Love With You" (#7 R&B).
THE BEST OF KOOL & THE GANG (Mercury/UMe) offers '80s videos from the soul funkateers for three #1 R&B smashes -- "Cherish" (#2 pop/#1 AC), "Joanna" (#2 pop/#2 AC), and the timeless party anthem "Celebration" (#1 pop/ #1 dance) -- as well as "Let's Go Dancing (Ooh La, La, La)" (#30 pop/#7 R&B) and "Get Down On It" (#10 pop/#4 R&B).
THE BEST OF TRACY BYRD (MCA Nashville/UMe) has the '90s neo-trad country star on video for four Top 5 country hits: "Holdin' Heaven" (#1), "Lifestyles Of The Not So Rich And Famous" (#4), "Watermelon Crawl" (#4) and "The Keeper Of The Stars" (#2) plus the Top 40 country "Why Don't That Telephone Ring."
THE BEST OF BILLY RAY CYRUS (Mercury/UMe) includes the video that launched the '90s line dancing phenomenon, "Achy Breaky Heart" (#4 pop/#1 country). But there are three other country Top 10s too: "Could've Been Me" (#2), "She's Not Cryin' Anymore" (#6) and "In The Heart Of A Woman" (#3). The other video is his most beloved -- his "Some Gave All" tribute to military veterans.
