If you're in Melbourne Bryan Bergman (who is a member of this forum) runs regular disco nights (at least I think they are still going...)

hey all - yep i sure do - but still no permanent venue or speciifc night. sometimes they are very last minute actually!!
i'm pretty much up for disco anywhere - and with flights as cheap as they are, i'd be happy to pack some wax and join the party even if it's interstate!! Sydney sounds like a plan... any venue ideas?
next time i play disco in Melbourne is at Sous Sol (again) this Friday evening 20th Feb from 9pm till prob around 2am. Remember it's not an official publicised night yet, in fact i think there's a "going-away-party" crew there that night.. i'm holding off on the launch until i find out about a new venue that may be opening soon...!
cheers
Bryan
hey again guys - i'm still up at 3:00am on a Tuesday for some bizarre reason... anyway, earlier this evening i hopped on the decks and pulled out a handful of real funky or jazzy disco stuff I like that either i haven't played too much and need to familiarise myself with better - or hadn't played in a while - no strict tempo, just plain funky or jazzy disco, i always try and hit record when i practice playing disco so have a listen and let me know what you think... again, not rehearsed, just pulling out stuff on the fly to have some fun

surely there's more than 4 of us in Oz??? :-?
get down (under)! :o errr that was too corny
Bryan: Your "Deep Disco Mix" of February 2004 is very good. Reminds me of the quality of selections chosen by Melbourne DJ Lee Porter. It was nice to finally hear "Billy Who?" by Billy Frazier and Friends in its entirety. Sorry, I'm not Australian.
No need to apologise for being American! :lol:Originally Written by discosavvy

thanks for the top comments discosavvy! cheers!
;-)
p.s. Bryan what is it with venues in this city at the moment? There's hardly any left! Found a decent one yet?

kinda true - there's soooooooo many lounges and bars offering DJ entertainment, but no "venue" venues as such, apart from a few obvious ones... it's kinda hard to pick a winner, there's alot of really nice bar/lounges - and they mostly seem to be going for the house punter... i've got a good guide to melbourne CBD's hidden places, will take a deeper look i think...!
Guess none of y'all live in Queensland? Brisbane used to have an awesome 70s night called Flares in Fortitude Valley in Brisbane, but for some reason only early 80s (good, but not 70s) and late 80s early 90s (terrible, and not even Bros could save it) now run. I am starting out as a dj and I am going to push disco as much as I can, and try to appeal to youths my age to show them that dance music wasn't always Britney Spears.
This weekend I have publish my interview with renowned Australian deejay and remixer, Mark Alsop.
