    SONG FROM THE '80s

There was this song around '84 or '85 and I don't know the title nor the artist but it went something like.......

    my girl (my girl)
i just want you to be,

    my girl (my girl)

and then the chorus would start up. I thought it would be Unlimited Touch but it wasn't. The song was mid-tempo and had a heavy bass line. To anyone, I appreciate it.

There's something that's on the tip of my thoughts, so to speak, that won't make itself known...until it does, how's about 'Be My Girl' by Pee Wee (a/k/a Paris Ford, the renowned bassist). It's mid-tempo and has a heavy, slapped bass-line; and Pee Wee sings in a falsetto style. Only thing is, it's from early '82 (on Streetwise).
What would you do without your muesli...where would you be without a bowl?

That could just be the song. The intro starts off with female background singers harmonizing and then the bass and beat drops.

It's come to me! It's 'Fly Girl' by Intrigue, from 1984 - that's what I couldn't quite muster up. I think it may be that one...it has a vocoder at one point and a similar synth solo to Jocelyn Brown's 'Somebody Else's Guy' in the middle section. You can audition it on one of the recent Leroy Burgess comps on the Soul Brother label. Good luck!
