but of the 3 i put forward here i wouldn't call any of them particularly Northern Soul. It may just be a USA/UK thing
where your Northern Soul Scene features different records to ours. I'd be interested as to what type of records are classified northern soul over in the USA

To my knowledge the USA doesn't have a Northern Soul Scene. We may have some of the music but we don't call it that. However long ago it was that the Undisputed Truth released their album titled "Northern Soul" was the first time I'd ever seen or heard the phrase. I never could figure out what it meant. It wasn't until all you Brits showed up on the board :D that I finally learned what it is... and that I like a lot of the music. (THANKS, DISCODISK 8) :) )

Maybe it had to do with The Beatles? Their copyright company was called "Northern songs" (it's read in all their song credits) and they did many cover versions of Motown & Stax material (same thing did the Stones and the Kinks).
