Fascinating Work regarding analogue restoration!

Here is more research conducted at Berkley regarding audio restoration of analogue records that I found fascinating.It is rather technically intense however the jist of it is that they were investigating the theory that optical scanning of the record grooves would allow more true sound reproduction by gleaning information from the record grooves that even a stylus can miss and transforming it into usable waveforms.These could be utiized to create a truer representation of the original recording with even less noise and fuller sound.

Further to this my brother-in-law mentioned that a cousin of his in Britain e-mailed him a weblink regarding someone that in fact has developed an optical scanner that can do this.I've asked him to forward me that info when he finds it.I'll pass it on.
