Best From Artist 73 - Lime

OK folks, I need your help here. Several months back I was informed of this group after watching SUMMER LOVERS for the millionth time and heard YOUR LOVE. At that time I didn't know it was Lime or for that matter, the name of that song. You folks filled in the blanks for me.
Now I would like yall to fill in the blanks again and hip me to their best. As it stands right now YOUR LOVE is my pick from Lime. Yall I'm sure know other songs I never heard or perhaps heard but never knew it was from Lime.

They also had a good double sided 12" "Cutie Pie" /"Did you see that girl " on the Critique label (1988)

Gag me with a toilet plunger!!!! :P

The tunes were sometimes catchy, BUT.....

THE WORST VOCALS EVAH!!!! :P  :P  :P  :P

Maybe someone like George Michael & Deniece Williams (just came to me outta the blue--don't ask me why  ) should re-record the Lime oeuvre.

I'd also like to hear George Michael or someone like that cover all those Italo Disco classics that were beautiful--but coulda benefitted from better vocals.

George Michael sings "Masterpiece"; "Dolce Vita" and the selected works of Vivian Vee!!!!

    Oh, Mary don't ask.

I was blissfully unaware of Lime, until I chanced upon this site. I'm glad to say that I am still relatively unscathed, only ever listening to 1 minute from two of their masterpieces.
    Which one's my fave.......I won't go there.

I'd agree with you Marky terrible vocals indeed.I was never a fan of theirs and believe that they were totally overated.

    my lime top 5:

    1. Agent 406 (fully instrumental track!)
    2. Angel Eyes (i prefer the dub version)
    3. You're My Magician (both vocal & instrumental)
    4. On The Grid (album & remix version)
    5. Your Love (a classic)

in fact, i don't like any of the other Lime songs, and yes, mostly because of the vocals..

Okay I admit that some of the vocals are screeeeeechiiing like "Babe We're Gonna Love Tonight" lol Graham yeah there are some instrumental versions of their songs: Your Love and Come and Get Your Love (I think).

I'd prefer to leave Dolce Vita the way it is lol

Thanks for all the responses, most of which seem to be negative about this groups "talent." :D I did remember Marky and Boodi ripping this group when I first mentioned them!

    Best of the worst

At the time, I loved the long remix of "Your love" with those police sirens in it (was that a disconet remix...?? I am too lazy to dig it out right now).

I was also extremely happy that I was the club DJ at the time and not one of those poor guys on the dance floor dancing with their girl trying to act cool while the song was clearly way out of their BPM League

    Hi Paul :D !

I luuuuuuuvvvvvvvv Lime.....yeah they may be a bumblegum group with vocals that's out of this world but they have a large fan base out there including moi :P !!! I think some people are afraid to admit that they like them for being accused of having cheesy taste. Anyway here's my choices cuz ya know I can't pick just one:

    1.Angel Eyes
    2.On The Grid
    3.Unexpected Lovers
    4.Lovely Angel
    5.Babe We're Gonna Love Tonight
    6.Say You Love Me
    7.Your Love

To me Lime is one of those new acquintances I got to know only during recent years, since I wasn't a clubber at the time.

I must admit that I was somewhat suprised when I heard their products :P Nevertheless I also liked some of their tracks. As many before, Unexpected lovers and Your love are amongst my faves as well.

However, those not so keen on this 80's sound screem in agony when I play it

How can anybody not like such uptempo tunes

What’s wrong with over 130 bpm songs? A huge percentage of club hits are over 130 bpm, dancers used to love this music, locally we called them "high energy sets".

I used to play all Lime mentioned here and they were so popular on the local dance floors that I had double copies of them all and worked the crowds into a frenzy mixing the intros back and forth etc., you could always count on Lime to revive a floor and screaming masses always rushed the floor after just hearing the first few identifiable synch bars of "We gonna love tonight" or any of the other cuts.

The vocals were not the best and may put off some listeners today, (especially out of the 'Club' setting), but they worked at the time and perfectly matched the kind of fun club music they were creating, for all I know this may not be their real voices as I personally always believed the vocals were some kind of gimmick they tried that found an audience and worked in a similar vein as the B52 for instance.

My favorites cuts were "Your Love" and "Unexpected lover", around the same time a cut similar to “Unexpected..” titled "From a whisper to a scream" (?) was released to capitalize on Lime's hit sound and it was very popular too, I'll try to find it for fresh spin.

Hey. I just got the cd single with Your Love and Come & Get Your Love. I like it. I like it a lot. I guess I'm somewhere between Quinny and Delight, moving closer to Delight's position :D
Yeah, I know, I like Cocomotion so it makes sense right

    Mixmachine,

If I affended you or anyone here...sorry about that. No personal malice was intended. Just for my personal taste, I don't particularly like much music beyond the 130 bpm. Plain and simple as that.
