MFSB - Love is the Message

I have heard that there is a 14:00 minute long remix. How many versions of LITM are there? I have an 11:27 remix and a 6:45 remix, both on PIR, and I have a 9:00 remix on One Way.

I know of two official versions - the original LP cut is around the 6:45 mark - and the Tom Moulton disco mix is around 11:27. There are a few re-edits which have always been bootlegs - one or two of them incorporate 'Chicago Bustop' by the Salsoul Orchestra, which is more or less the same tune.

There's an early '80s re-edit on Hikim-Ali which simply loops the well-worn sax vamp-out/'rhodes solo middle section repeatedly for 7 mins, with handclaps, chants and storm sound effects. :o

That 14:25 version is available on cd: "Soul Collector, Volume 2". This cd series is part of the "Funky Collector" series from Universal. The liner notes are in French and even if you can read it, it doesn't appear to tell much about the tracks on the cd. I never found out who did this bootleg version way back then. To be truthful, I didn't care for it --- felt too repetitive. Listening to it again it sounds like the work of Mr. Danny Krivitz. (Now that I know what he sounds like. :) ) Anybody know for sure?

I'm not 100%, Nicky, but I'm pretty certain the long version which interpolates the Salsoul Orch. is the Krivit creation. It's probably the best known of the bootlegs. I've never cared too much for it, either - some parts don't sit together easily and I also think it's very repetitive.
