    Looking for years..

I've been trying to figure this one out for years with no luck.

I used to have this tape years ago with a bunch of uptempo early 80's soul/r&b on it. Anyway my favorite track was this one that seems to puzzle everyone, so hear goes:

It's a male deep gospel type vocal. He does something almost like a jazz scat type thing and I don't remember it having any other vocals. When he does the scat the most distinguishing thing about the track is the last part where he goes something like " dun daa daaaaaaaa ". He is basicly scating to the melody which is very happy and uplifting. This track was followed by Finnis Henderson's "Skip To My Lou" on the tape and it's kind of in the same vein.

I know it's not much to go on but I'd be truly grateful for any help.

By the descriptions, I think it's less likely to be George Kranz - I reckon it's 'Music' by D-Train. Check that out as well.

    "Dubba-dubba-dah, duh-duh, dubba-dubba-dah, duh-duh - duh, dah, daaaaaaaaah"

    Do pardon my scat phonetics.

Don't know why but I'm actually thinking about Al Jarraue here. He used to do a lot of scat singing back in the day. Could it be "Roof Garden" (1983)?

It's not George Kranz, that's the first reply I always get when I ask this question, it's also not 'Proove My Love'...

However it seriously looks like it could be D-train's 'Music' or maybe an Al Jarraue track. I'll let y'all know..

Another guess would be "Shower Your Love" by Booker Newberry III from around '83. it's not that far removed from Finis Henderson in style and Booker is doing his scat thing in the end as well.

Thank you Mixmachine, Forrrce and K Bee.

I'm still thinking it could be Music by D-train. Unfortunately I'm having a hard time finding a sound sample on-line

If anyone knows where I can hear this or can put a sound sample of the scat part, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks again!

Just wanted to say that thanks to Forrrce this mystery has been solved :D it's D train - Music.

I've been asking around for years with that same description and all it did was confuse people even more. So I've got to say that this board has some of the most knowledgable music lovers I've ever come accross. Thanks!
