    "Venus"

I found a 45 of "Venus" by Frankie Avalon. I never heard this one before and it just blew me away!! It's on Delite Records 1976. It has a very "Crown Heights Affair" soundscape to it. Does anyone know if this track was ever release in more extended form? And what the name of the Album would be?

    The 45 is as follows:
    Side1 Venus 3:30
    Side2 Venus - Disco Version 4:50

There's got to be a better extended release than this!

Just when you thought it was all over - no, no, no

It's the same length on the De-Lite album "Venus", DEP-2020. I've never found a 12" single version.

There is CD version on Unidisc (SP5-1715) "Frankie Avalon" subtitled '12" Classics On CD', that is 6:10, but it is an instrumental with backing vocals and choruses only; no lead vocal. It also has short versions of "Splish Splash" and "Yakety Yak".

BTW, who did the original? This song has so many versions that I don't get even at which music era it belongs.

I'm pretty sure Frankie Avalon originally did it in the 1960s and then Disco-fied it in the 70s.

There is a rare 1976 Delite 12" of this song, unfortunately the seller didn't list the time or label scan.

There are 2 mixes on the original 12" DeLite promo:

    long disco version @ 6:08
    short disco version @ 4:50

It comes up occasionally on eBay if you are unable to find it elsewhere.
