"Ohio Players - Please Don't Say Goodbye"
The title would lead one to think of a soulful ballad but it was actually a laid-back funky groove in my opinion.
Brother Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner did a helluva good job at what Johnny Guitar Watson calls "scatting" on this track.
I downloaded it on kazaa almost a year & a half ago and I would like to know which album it was from.
I have every Ohio Players disc from the Westbound years "Pain" on thru to Mercury fame "Jazz-Ay-La-Dee". I missed a couple of those 80's OP albums such as "Ouch" & "Graduation", But this track has a very crisp & clean sound (almost live) but still sounds like studio work. It has to be from the late 70's "78-79" or early 80's. The reason I say 78-79 is because this was around the time of the "Jazz-Ay-La-Dee" album which was one of the last OP "wax" albums that I purchased.
At the time of it's release, I was dissapointed at the material and really didn't give any of the following albums a chance (except an album called "Tenderness" which I also found dissapointing. Of course, Now I find that same material that I hated back then to be the kind of stuff that I am scouring the Earth to find now  (It's funny how music is like that.....Man, are times changin' or what?). Anywayz, Please help Brothren.
Thanks
