Hello Everyone...I'm new here and I'm sure this is an old question. I've always wondered what is considered to be the first Disco record on the Top 40. I"ve heard Casey Kasem and others claim that that honor goes to "Rock The Boat" by the Hughes Corporation. Anyone else agree or disagree?...Thanks....Mario

The official debut date for HUES CORPORATION Rock The Boat was May 25th, 1974.

Now looking at the same Hot 100 you got

TSOP -MFSB at #19
which had peaked at #1 on April 27.

In a German music book I have read the first Disco song on the Billboard charts was Manu DiBango - Soul Makossa (6/23/73 - peak 35)
