What happened to Hot Productions label? Bernie interview pls

One of the biggest labels of disco classic reissues was by Hot productions in Miami. What happened? It appears they are closed? They are one of the few, besides unidisc that have given me hours of enjoyment of classic disco! I purchased a lot of cd copies of vinyl that I had. Although they are newer I believe this story is of interest to the fans of this site. (Bernie, an interview would be great). Where did they find the "original master tapes" how did they deal with labels that were out of business. Some of this music must be hard to find and who ownes it now anyway. The master mind behind this company knows disco music. Who was it? Mr. Stone? I know quality, lenth, and versions were sometimes questionable but overall this is the music disco dreams are made of.

When I interviewed Henry Stone a while back he told me that he had sold his stake in the company. While Henry was the owner, it was Paul Klein, who I once met in Florida, who was behind the day to day operations.

As for quality they were the worst in that they sometimes used needle drops from vinyl records and terribly edited tracks. Despite that fact I own several of their releases and am glad to even have them as I don't have or don't want to buy the original vinyl.

A while back forum member Steffan of hotdiscomix informed us that Hot Productions had been sold to a German(?) concern. The post should still be searchable so let me try and find it.

Thanks Bernie, you are the man. It's amazing how such a small mistake, or impression of a lie can tarnish away someone's other hard work. The "from the original master tapes" on the cover was the final push for me to pay for hot productions cds. I learn here that it would be better be truthful. As it was probably the best they could offer or could not find some material to make a collection complete. I live in Ft. Lauderdale FL / next door to Miami and I have seen Paul Klein's name before (not sure where). That is another reason for my interest in the story. I did just transfer my Disco-Trek lp vinyl to cd as I have not seen it on CD. I wish more classics were available on CD to keep the sound alive and selling.
