I have the Salsoul Anthology as well. I have the 2 CD set. I don't have Giorgio's "From Here To Eternity" but I do have his "Knights In White Satin" album (Oasis), which I love to hear. I'm also listening to Venus Dobson's "Night Rider" and Two Tons O' Fun's "I Got The Feeling".

Yesterday, I listened to the 2 CD "Sounds Like 54" compilation. I really like that set. One question: where did that version of Jackie Moore's "This Time Baby" come from? It's not the John Luongo mix. Is it a re-recording or an earlier version before Luongo tinkered with it? Anyone know?

Today, I've got "The Very Best of Patti Austin", "The Best of War, Vol. 2", and three "12 inch Classics on CD" : Jeanette "Lady" Day's "Come Let Me Love You"/"Sexy, Sexy, Sexy"; Hi Gloss "You'll Never Know" b/w Empress "Dyin' To Be Dancin'" and Lorraine Johnson "Feed The Flame" b/w Linda Taylor "You and Me Just Started". In the non-dance vein I have Stone Temple Pilots' "No. 4" that I bought for one great song "Sour Girl".

I've never heard of this set. I thought that Candi Staton sung "This Time Baby".. well I thought wrong.

    Jeanette "Lady" Day's "Come Let Me Love You"/"Sexy, Sexy, Sexy";

I think Paul have recommended this song to me a while back but I haven't bought or heard it yet.

    Hi Gloss "You'll Never Know"
b/w Empress "Dyin' To Be Dancin'"
These are two nice songs that I will like to have in my collection as well!

Speaking of Luongo. I've been listening to his remix of Shake Your Body Down. Also, I Love Music, What Can I Do For You, Dancer, Push Push In The Bush, Keep On Jumpin', Blame It On The Boogie and finally at the other end of the spectrum, Wives And Lovers.
Hey Delight, just to fill you in on a little info. You mentioned "Put Your Body In It" on your list. I can't tell just how big that song was at the Boston area discos. Every dj did remix upon remix of that song with the 12" version. Most of it sounded awesome. Damn, I wish I had one of those time machines

"Put Your Body In It" was a big club hit in the UK as well. I remember the DJs mixing out of the main break in "Put Your Body In It" straight into the percussive intro of Candido's "Jingo" - wicked!

As for Jon Luongo, he was also responsible for the remix of the Real Thing's "Can You Feel The Force".

I've been listening to MANY of these same artists and songs. I sure love "Night Rider" though I've definitely heard stronger singers than her. And the Two Tons' "Just Us" has always been one of my favs. I've also been listening to Chaz Jankel's "Glad to Know You" a lot.

That "Knights in White Satin" album was exquisite to say the least; Georgio's other album "Baby Blue" which was more electronic and techno, was also good.

Re: What have you been listening to lately?

As she's definitely and permanently ensconed in the upper echelons of the eurodisco pecking order, I've been listening to Heather Parisi a lot - "Blackout", "Ti Rockero" and of course "Disco Bambina", both the original 7-inch and the more electronic 1980 remix.
Then I've been checking out the James Last and the Rolling Trinity album, the track "One More Change" could be mistaken for any good Canadian disco track from 1979.
    Also:
"Black Magic" by Black Magic, from 1977, 95% "Daddy Cool" with the exact same bassline and strings
"Maria/Tonight" medley by G.M. Soundtrack, from 1978, like Amadeo doing a West Side Story suite but further enchanced by an additional, especially tinny sounding fenmale vocalist
"The Girl from Uganda" by La Pegunta, Crescendo/Gene Norman label, a great version of a Les Baxter exotica tune
"Where The Boys Are" by Connie Francis, the 1978 disco version

Re: What have you been listening to lately?

Gayle Adams -baby I need your loving
    Jones Girls -nights over Egypt
Dee Dee Bridgewater -breaking and entering....LOVE this tune after all those years
George Duke -dream on LP....never knew that I was going to dig Jazzfunk
Bobby Womack -so many rivers LP
Vaughn Mason and crew -bounce, rock, skate, roll
Allnighther vol 4 -northern soul in a new millenium....especially for the tracks by The Fifth Dimension -'too poor to die' and Bud Harper -'let me love you'. It's the b-side of an old soul tune 'Mr. Soul' and I had this in my collection without realising it was the b-side...great discovery! The English sure know how to check b-sides....

    and...

anyone remembers 'slow dancing in the big city'??? It's a soundtrack by Bill Conti for a most unremarkable movie. All tracks are 'classical' and very slow but there's one tune that some will remember ; 'TC Samba'. It's a percussive Latino type of track that made me buy this album
