Two songs with the same chords?

hi people,
yesterday i was listening to some disco songs and i discover that two traxx (cheryl lynn - fix it AND patrice rushen - i was tired of being alone) has the same chord rhytm....who copied the other? maybe thay have some musicians in common? mystery..... 8) 8) 8)

Unfortunately I never listened to these songs but it's true that there are some songs very similar melodically: "Need A Man Blues" (Donna Summer) and "First Hand Experience In Second Hand Love" (Giorgio Moroder), "Don't Leave Me This Way (Thelma Houston) and "I'm Here Again" (Thlema Houston), "Dance (Disco Heat)" (Sylvester) and "Dance" (Paradise Express), "It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next to Me" (Barry White) and "Le Spank" (Le Pamplemouse).

Artists copying the sound formula of their last hit is a well-known pop music method. It comes from the old soul days at least. The reason is simple: producers wanted to cash in any recent hit copying the formula to repeat it. A famous example is Marvin Gaye's "That's the way love is", released inmediately after his greatest hit "I heard it through the grapevine". Both tracks were produced by Norman Whitfield and very alike in melody and arrangements.
