It is from 1982. There were two volumes in the series. They're currently both available on Unidisc CDs. What exactly is it that you want to know?
Anyone know any info on this LP?

What would you do without your muesli...where would you be without a bowl?
is this really from Kiss FM and did they put out any other LP's? what about 92 KTU did they put anything out? or WBLS?
The mastermix seems to be a Prelude fest.
Forrrce: Would you happen to know why only one label is represented? Were both volumes like this?
Sorry about the gap, went looking for the LPs and found volume one vinyl and CD, but only the CD for volume two.
Also, some of the tracks are from 1983, so it's a little later than I first indicated.
Here's the track listing:
Toney Lee 'Reach Up'
D-Train 'Keep On'
Warp 9 'Light Years Away'
Indeep 'Last Night, A DJ Saved My Life'
Sharon Redd 'Beat The Street'
D-Train 'Music'
Visual 'The Music Got Me'
Wuf Ticket 'Ya Mama'
Musique 'Keep On Jumpin''
Sharon Redd 'In The Name Of Love'
France Joli 'Come To Me'
All titles are suffixed 'Mastermix'. I'm not sure, but I don't think the last two or three titles are on the vinyl versions. These tracks are all blended, also.
Annoyingly, the mixer credits aren't included on the CD - though I remember Visual being a Tony Humphries remix. In fact, the whole thing was probably mixed by Humphries.
Volume two represents a different station, probably WBLS (?) - what station was Humphries on in 1982, Nicky?
What would you do without your muesli...where would you be without a bowl?
Also, not sure why volume one is exclusively Prelude product. All tracks were "Mastermix"ed by Shep Pettibone, who, if I remember correctly, was doing a lot of mixes for Salsoul and Sam at the time - while Francois Kevorkian was the main mixer at Prelude.
What would you do without your muesli...where would you be without a bowl?
there are songs added and songs deleted from the cd version as compared to the lp version so if you can get both lps and both cds. off hand rockers revenge walking on sunshine is deleted i guess because they were a street wise product. as well as other songs. there were no 92 ktu albums put out unfortunately. believe me if there were i would of picked them up. i was a huge ktu fan at the time, recording all the paco supermixes on tape. unidisc did a great job of transfering these albums to cd.

Musique's 'Keep On Jumping', France Joli's 'Come To Me' and Sharon Redd's 'In The Name Of Love' don't appear on the vinyl for Vol 2.
Unlike Vol 1, where all are Prelude tracks, only 5 of those on Vol 2 are from Prelude, while the rest are from a variety of other labels (although the album is still issued on Prelude).
Tracklisting is:
Side A:
Toney Lee 'Reach Up' (Radar)
D-Train 'Keep On' (Prelude)
Warp 9 'Light Years Away' (Prism)
Side B:
Mahogany 'Ride On The Rhythm' (West End)
Raw Silk 'Do It To The Music' (West End)
Rockers Revenge 'Walking On Sunshine' (Streetwise)
Side C:
Indeep 'Last Night, A DJ Saved My Life' (Sound Of New York)
Sharon Redd 'Beat The Street' (Prelude)
D-Train 'Music' (Prelude)
Side D:
The Limit 'She's So Divine' (Arista)
Visual 'The Music Got Me' (Prelude)
Wuf Ticket 'Ya Mama' (Prelude)
Sides A&B are mixed by Shep Pettibone, with C&D mixed by Tony Humphries.
Kiss FM Mastermixes Vol 1 was imported into the UK in June 1982.
Kiss FM Mastermixes Vol 2 was imported into the UK in August 1983.
Hi Forrrce: Francois Kevorkian is label credited with 'original mix' on 7 of the tracks on Vol 1.Originally Written by Forrrce
I was born just a little after 92 KTU closed its door to K-Rock. When I found out that the commercialized KTU in NYC actually existed under a different frequency 20 years ago I was amazed. I only found 1 paco supermix tape from the net. It was the latin rascals. Call me crazy but I am not the biggest fan of the latin rascals because there is too much going on in the mix. Indeed it is amazing for that time the stunts that the pulled on there mixes! Nevertheless, was the latin rascals the only resident dj's there or were they just a guest dj for the night? What time did Paco's Supermix air? I'm guessing this mix I have was one of the last ones because it says its from 1985 and KTU signed off on July 13, 1985. It has Shannon, Alisha... so it's about right for that time period.
Except that at least on the lp the Last night a dj saved my life track is by a group called Sweetness. I never heard any difference in vocals though? Anybody here know more of this?
Paco's Supermixes" were aired every weekday at 4PM and ran till about 4:30 on Disco 92 - WKTU. Since the time period was short the mixes were usually quick edits/medley type affairs to cram as many songs into the piece as possible. Various guest DJs would be spotlighted, but towards the end it became more of a Latin Rascals and Aldo Marin show.

hey bernie werent does the good old days :D i remember coming home from school and getting my radio set up to tape pacos supermixes. a few years ago i put all of them on about 30 cds. to bad i didnt have better equipment back then but i kept them for sentimental reasons anyway. i remember they would come on at exactley 4:10 and end about 4:35. they were mostly the latin rascals especially at the end like you said, but there were a couple of times when he had djs from other countries like brazil come and guest mix for him. they way they mix today doesnt compare to how they mixed back then. the mixing today sounds to synthetic to perfect, but has no soul no imagination. the latin rascals were truly pioneers in djing. somebody posted that they had alot of things going on in their mixes, but that was the beauty of it, trying to guess what songs are being used at once, it was really challenging.
to bad i didnt have my minidisc recorder back then.
carmine
so it was a 30 minute show? cuz the recording I have lasts 60 minutes of air time. Oh yea and I have another question amoung all the radio stations who had the best mixes ? 92 KTU, Kiss, WBLS, Hot 103 which later became Hot 97?
Bernie perhaps you know, how did the latin rascals do all those stunts in there mixing? I don't think they used computers for that back in '84 although i could be wrong?
Good old fashioned razor blade editing of reel to reel tapes. No computers or sampling was used back then for these mixes.Originally Written by mixtape

Correct, they were masters of razor-and-splicing-block editing. The Pet Shop Boys mention this on the liner notes to one of their LPs when they were discussing the LR mix of one of their songs.
Sadly, this incredible skill is of little use today. The rise of the DAW has made it possible for even novices to pull off professional-quality re-edits. Hell, even I've done it!
Brian Eno & David Byrne's "My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts" was a monument to tape editing when it came out. Today that sort of album could be assembled over a weekend with a DAW.
The 'Rascals got their props over here for a little while. I can vaguely recall a feature about them in one of the UK magazines, in which they were described as a "...couple of crazy guys who sit in front of a computer screen all day, eating hamburgers...".
What would you do without your muesli...where would you be without a bowl?
mixtape, it was aprroximately a 25 min mix. there were no 60 min mix as far as the pacos supermixes were concerned but there could of been a mix played at another time of day maybe a weekend mix or something.Originally Written by mixtape
as far as who had the best mixes id have to say that ktu and kiss were abour equal, the only thing was that you knew when ktu were going to play their mixes and kiss was a hit and miss situation, not knowing when theyll come on. i personally dont have that many mixes from kiss.
bls was alright to, again hit and miss.
ironically enough when hot 103 came about their mixes were good but not of the same quality as ktu's. they would have a show on sunday nights with al bandiero, and he would play mixes about 25 30 min long. but they were just one after the other mixes, nothing special.

so I guess I got a weekend mix from 92 KTU. Nevertheless I think it is ironic that 92 KTU was much better than the New KTU 103.5 today. I'm just curious what was the most frequently played songs on 92 KTU? Alisha - All Night Passion?
yes along with
shannon
xena
freeez
afrika bambatta
soul sonic force
planet patrol
the puppets "way of life" was huge in their mixes
confusion by new order
the mexican by jellybean
kraftwerk
dominatrix sleeps tonight
upfront - infatuation
din daa daa
c-bank - one more shot
along with

it was just a great radio station that lasted as long as it could until disco was eventually dead as far as radio stations were concerned.
their last song was of course last dance by donna summer

really cuz the last broadcast I heard on 92 KTU was the Live Aid Concert on July 13th, 1985. Thats what I read on a website. Wouldn't know cuz I was born on July 2, 1986! Thanks for your input!!! Its a shame the file I have is terrible quality wise.
i believe the last broadcast was sometime in 84 when it switched over to k-rock. which would make sense because k-rock would broadcast an event like that. 92.3 ktu went under but the frequency kept going with k-rock.
Apparently there were different vinyl issues of the mastermixes series (vol. II) as I have got a copy with a slightly different tracklisting, issued by Rams Horn Records in 1983. Tracks were indeed 'master'mixed by Shep Pettibone and Tony Humphries. It is still fun to play them now and then.
Tracklisting:

Warp 9 'Light Years Away'

All titles were in some form released by Rams Horn Records in Europe as they were representing most of the labels over here. Some are still available from http://www.ramshorn.nl (online shop/vinyl/collectors items) at somewhat high prices.
