    2 records I found in a bin

I went record shopping in NYC a few months ago and I saw 2 12" records in the disco section of the shop. The first record that caught my eye was a old special Motown record. I remember the cover looked to be very old. I believe the record was from the early '70's. It was 2 sided and on one side it have Eddie Kendricks. Does anyone know this record? and is it worth 15 bucks?

The other record I saw had an orange label. All it said on it was 1979 Medley. Does anyone know what this is? this was 10 bucks? I saw a ton of other disco lps but I really never know what to pick up in these shops. Especially that when I go I usually only have about 30 bucks in my pocket!

Couldn't tell you without the title...

Probably one of those "Stars On"-style medleys. These were huge around 79-80. I personally can't stand them, but everyone's entitled to their own opinion.

A good rule to follow is this: If you have no idea what it is, don't pay good money for it.

These could be reissues as I don't remember Eddie getting 12" cuts when he was on Tamla with Motown. There is a Motown reissue with Kendricks on one side doing "Date With The Rain" and Diana Ross on the other doing "Love Hangover. You can get it for $7.00 or thereabouts.

There's also some 'unofficial' remixes (not on the Motown label) with Eddie again doing "DWTR" but it's extended and The Originals doing "Down To Love Town", also extended. Again, $5.00 - $7.00 dollars. Really don't know what you might have seen in the bin.

i can tell you without a doubt that the 1979 labeled record is the 1979 disconet medley.

Could be the " A Motown Special Disco - Version Single "
21st Creation - "Tailgate" b/w E.Kendricks "Born Again" ( from the LP Goin up in Smoke ) 1977 White label Motown M 00006D1 . I got it coz I'm a bit of an Eddie fan but have actually grooved more with Tailgate ..."You gotta watch out for the brothas that slip up from the rear!" 135 / 136 BPM with wicked Perc. and strings. Don't recall paying much for it though.
