The one that got away

Ever been in the situation where you had a record/CD in your hand but you did not buy it. Now you can't find it anywhere, and you WISH you had bought it at the time??



I can think two painful examples ..



When I was out in Germany studying in the early 80's, I had a copy of William DeVaughan's 1974 LP "Be Thankful For What You've Got" in my hand - a measly 4 Deutschmarks. I didn't buy it, and I've never seen the LP since. I have got a 2 min version on a K-Tel compilation, and I've got the 1979 disco mix, but I WANT the 1974 original LP version in all its glory ..

It came on the radio a couple of weeks ago, but I had just filled up the spare MD I was recording onto, so I didn't get it then, either ...



The same also happened with El Coco's "Cocomotion" LP on US AVI. I could have bought it for £1.50 in 1979, but I didn't. Then I started hunting for it everywhere, and I eventually found it in London after 8 years - cost me four quid...

You can download the full length 1974 version of William DeVaughn's "Be Thankful For What You Got" from Audio Galaxy on MP3. Audio Galaxy is a MP3 sharing site far better than Napster and you can find a lot of extremely rare stuff there. I've downloaded the full length of that song and it's fantastic.
