The word evokes not just a type of music or a kind of dance or even a style of dress.It\'s also a new social order of black and white, gay and straight, rich and poor, all hot, sweaty and, most likely, high, together.

I have an important message for everyone searching for the long out-of-print Costandinos CD compilation on Unidisc: DON'T BOTHER.

The sound quality is that of an old cassette, and "Accidental Lover" has been edited down to 9 minutes to boot. The original vinyl in decent shape with a good cartridge will sound far better. And with the exception of "Americana", most Costandinos isn't that hard to find. The soundtrack albums are a bit trickier, with there being two versions of "Trocadero Citron Bleu", but they're out there.

I didn't know of the Italian compilation, but that doesn't suprise me at all... there are loads of obscure regional comps like that out there. I have a Canadian one of a whole bunch of Levay/Kunze material, obviously distributed mainly in Québec. It doesn't have any unique material on it, but I've never seen or heard of it otherwise.

As for those CDs -- I find these highly suspect. First of all, no other online shop has them, even the ones that have those crappy Russian bootlegs. The *only* place I've seen these discs is on this eBay listing. Second, the presentation of the discs is quite cheesy, with that font that screams "day one with photoshop" slapped on everything. Mind you, I've seen that on other disco releases, but still. Third, "Sumeria" and "Trocadero Citron Bleu" have the USA covers, but the others appear to have the European ones. It is very strange that there would be such inconsistencies on an official release.

I smell lo-fi needle drops.

    Well, it's true! :D

Fancy, outrageous fonts (and using far more than are called for), bright oversaturated colours, and gratuitous overuse of 3D effects and shading are the hallmarks of amateur design.

Just like Cubase has every teenager thinking they're a musician (witness current club music), Photoshop has everyone thinking they're a graphic designer.
