Bryan Adams "Let Me Take You Dancing"

In doing a liitle background check on this 12" recording I came across a rather interesting piece about the creation of this classic disco tune that Bryan Adams likes to disassociate himself from.I thought it be an informative article to share with you.

Good story, even though some of the more surprising aspects have been discussed here previously.

To be fair, it's not the complete lead balloon I recall (held my nose and pressed 'play' on the sound clip) - but it is incredibly twee and a touch too fast for me. The chorus puts me in mind of 'Smack Dab In The Middle', which is no bad thing.

I believe the tempo is around 136 BPM's... anything over 132 bpm's becomes to fast to dance a certain style... whether it's touch dancing or free style... you might as well jump around like an idot..

I've been getting rid of a lot of records over the past few weeks and among the 12s I couldn't recall previously playing, was 'Ain't It All Right' by Nick Mundy which is so fast, The Pointer Sisters' 'Jump' is ballad-tempo by comparison. :o

    I like the record.

Interesting how that was done. I didn't realize that John Luongo actually participated with the original creators of the record (less Mr. Adams) in the remix.

I'd like to hear about the lengths Mr. Adams went to to insure that A&M never release that 12" version on any compilation and seemed to make the 12" disappear from the used record bins. I've never seen it...though Jeff said he did recently see a copy in SF, of all places.

It was released again on a Hot Tracks remixed classics CD--don't know how they got permission. But I've never seen it on any disco classics compilation. I kinda think it's a classic--irresistibly catchy and kinda cheesy and fun.

I always had this record as 133 BPM. It was ultra fast for the back end of '79 going into '80.

There was another story that circulated at the time that Bryan Adams was refused entry to a Disco (in Vancouver?) 'cos he was too young and they didn't even budge when by sheer coincidence he heard his record being played whilst trying to gain entry. I've written before in this board that if you slow it down by about 5% or so, it sounds just like Bryan Adams, so how true is the high pitched voice thing in the story? He does have a rather high pitch for a male singer anyway.

It's the Hot Tracks Classics 12 CD that has Bryan Adams on it. Here's the link to Hot Tracks:

Plead your case. If you're a working dj you'll have no problems. I really don't know if they make exceptions if you're not. I would also bet that someone other than Hot Tracks is selling these somewhere.

As a matter of fact: :D
