    Best Disco Music Video

What is the best disco music video. I have not seen many videos but from my knowledge of disco music videos it would be Blondie - Heart of glass.

Thomas Dolby - May The Cube Be With You - Hilarious. such a piss take of cheap sci fi movies et al.
Go West - We Close Our Eyes (does this qualify?) - Just remember it being very blue and gold and visually striking.

Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band doing Cherchez la Femme is pretty special as is the vid for Cerrone's Supernature. I wish the new doc out soon by VH1 would use the above instead of the usual EW&F and Chic ones we've all seen so many times.

I agree with Jussi, I have a rare video on .mpg with SILVER CONVENTION - FLY, ROBIN, FLY .... who knows where it actually came from.. It starts out with the group coming out on stage, some of them dressed like cops on motorcycles... kinda cheesy, but enjoyable to watch.

It's called, "When Disco Ruled the World" and should be airing early in 2004.

The disco video I still see in my mind whenever I listen to the record is..... Miss Jackson's brilliant "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough"

Miss J was sorta floating in space...seemed perfect to me.
    "Lost inside adorable illusion...."

I remember seeing a video by Chic doing "Good Times". Everyone was dressed 'oh-so-chic' and the ladies were sitting in straight-backed chairs playing(?) the violin rushes of the songs. Looked so classy.

Best disco music videos. Well I have a tendency to pick the videos from pre-1983 that have full on video effects such as:

Leo Sayer - You Make Me Feel Like Dancing 1976 (Musik Laden)
Heatwave - Boogie Nights 1976 (Musik Laden)
Hues Corporation - Rock Your Baby 1974 (Top Of The Pops)
    Earth, Wind & Fire - Let's Groove 1981
Jacksons - Blame It On The Boogie 1978
Amii Stewart - Knock On Wood 1979
Amii Stewart - Light My Fire 1979
5000 Volts - Dr Kiss Kiss 1976 (Top Of The Pops)
Dan Hartman - Instant Replay 1979
    Telex - Twist A St Tropez 1978
Marcia Hines - Music Is My Life 1978
Jacksons - Can You Feel It 1980
Michael Jackson - Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough 1979
Simple Minds - Promised You A Miracle 1982
Kool & The Gang - Hi De Hi, Hi De Ho 1982
Kool & The Gang - Let's Go Dancing (Ooh La La) 1982
Kool & The Gang - Open Sesame Pt 1 1976 (TV show performance with wicked video effects)
KC & The Sunshine Band - That's The Way I Like It 1975 (TV show performance with chromakey video effects)
Andrea True Connection - More More More 1976 (Top Of The Pops)
    Fox - S-S-S-Single Bed 1976
Mankind - Theme From Dr Who 1978 (Top Of The Pops)
Player One - Space Invaders 1980

It's not much of a video, but the promo clip for Brass Construction's "Movin'" really goes with the song. It's just them playing live, synced to the studio track.

Biddu's "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon" is particularly minimalist, just footage of Biddu speeding around in a boat. The print I saw was so damaged that there was barely any colour, and the wash of scratches made it look like it was raining ink.

"In The Navy" by the Village People is campy as one would expect, but very low-budget, probably done in a single afternoon.

I should take this opportunity to point out to the younger members of this forum that the notion of videos as we know them today did not arrive until MTV in 1980. Prior to this, there were only "promotional films" for songs. Since there was no outlet for these to the public, not a lot of money was spent making them, as they were usually only seen by industry types. Compare this to today, where a song doesn't exist if it's not on a music TV channel, and the budget for a single video will often exceed the cost of recording the entire album.

Dee D.Jackson's 'Automatic Lover' for that well-hung robot is a must ( :o ), Sheila B.'s 'Spacer' is a personal favourite with all that baco-foil darling, Bananarama's 'Venus' as its the campiest thing ever & I totally agree with whoever said Sylvester's 'You Make Me Feel'- when I saw this on Top of the Pops in '78 as an impressionable 13 year old it changed my life. :-? 8)
