This is a song that I have loved since day one. It is "The Night" by the Spanish group Azul Y Negro. Click the link to see full details including a label scan of this record.
I'm looking for the original artist of a rather sleazy song called "The Night", that I have on a mix tape made in 1983. I have a LATER version of this song, by a group whose name escapes me but it's one word--something close to "Sheharazade"? Anyway, I am really looking for the earlier version.
The chorus, and pretty much only lyric, is "Let's spend the night together, let's work the night together..." over and over. However, what distinguishes this version that I'm looking for is, it has a 'voiceover' section with two guys "talking on the phone" in very tinny voices; they are saying very frank sexual (gay) things, like "He says you have a big ____" and the other guy answers, "Yeah, I f***ed him once". Needless to say, I doubt this was played outside gay clubs, but I do remember hearing it at The Saint.
Any clues? Thanks!
Francois

Oh, COOL! Thanks so much! After 20 years, the name of the group! :)

Bernie--THANKS SO MUCH for the info on Azul y Negro! After spending all afternoon looking for a way to get hold of this track, I managed to download the "extended version (6:10) tonight, and it is indeed the very song I was after!
It does NOT have the "X-rated phone conversation on it" that I was remembering--perhaps this had been dubbed over it by a DJ? At any rate, this is a great track to have and I recommend it for any who love really great electronic music with a sleazy sound ;)

You are welcome Francois. Do try and get their other 12" singles as they are great. I'll be adding more of them to the Disco Records Vault soon so keep checking back.
