I keep noticing you love promoting Love Insurance by Fromt Page and I have to agree it's one of my all time favourites.I pulled it out and gave it a good listen to REAL LOUD.Great orchestration and construction if you wanted to pick one record which exemplified DISCO this well could be it.
Different eyes see different things. Different hearts beat on different strings. But there are times for you and me when all such things agree...Rush
I will forever plug the virtues of this great Disco record!
Just like you O, I decided to pull the vinyl out and play it real loud. It's a perfect record although some don't think so. I just love the blend of Sharon Redd's vocals, the killer percussion and the swirling sounds. This is Disco!
See the Front Page - Love Insurance entry in the Disco Records Vault for more info and a label scan.

I am one of those Front-Page- loving-persons too.
I have two copies, one of them being the original one I played to death in the summer of 79.... it is almost destroyed but I'll never part of.... such sweet memories!!!
By the way, I recently listened to it again and discovered that a small sample in the middle of the record has been used to make a house song about a couple or three years ago...... Housers here, please name that song!!!
This was always a great song for me and I never knew it was Sharon Redd on vocals until Bernie said so. Only makes it hotter. :D Like Giovanni, I have more than one and they ain't goin' no where!

I also didn't know it was Sharon Redd until around 1996 when a California DJ by the name of Glenn Rivera told me so in a series of e-mail correspondences. It then hit me like a ton of bricks, "of course it's her!"

I agree with everyone that this is a classic 'disco' track. Does anyone remember the hi-energy re-make from '84 sung by a male vocalist & I think the artist name was Krukutz or something like that; it was interesting but not a patch on the original.(how could u improve on the Front Page version?)
...ya gotta beat the street......
Steely,
I think the one you are referring to is by Greg Stone-at least that was his real name. He passed away a few years ago, but he did write to me telling me about his version of "Love Insurance" from the 80s Might have been on a small NYC label??? Never heard or saw it so I don't know for sure.

I have never seen the record for sale anywhere either Bernie, I only ever heard it played by a hi-energy DJ in the 80's called Tony De Vit who was from Birmingham & went on to become a well-known techno DJ at London's 'Trade' nightclub. Tony sadly also passed away a couple of years ago (due to an AIDS related illness) but I will always owe alot to him for introducing me to records that changed my life.

One of my favorite disco instrumentations comes from this record. How can you not like the intro to this song? I can still invision people on the dance floor screaming when the cow bells ringing in their ears. This song definitely made my Top 100 disco songs from the 70's. 8)
