Have I got a Gem?

I picked up the other day a 12 inch single from Capital Records France dated 1976. It's a Tavares double A side featuring "Heaven must be missing an Angel" and "Don't take away the music" on the other side. I once heard that "Don't take away the music" is fairly rare (not to mention valuable) as a 12 inch single so does anyone know if I got a bargain? It cost approx $10.

As long as it is not a reissue, the 12" of these songs are always a collector's item.

Just to confirm timing I checked on my US 12" promo of "Don't Take Away the Music. It clocks in at 6:18. Is yours the same?

Incidentally have you seen my other post? Recent purchases include your all time favourite "Love Insurance" by Front Page! We have a radio station in UK who on Saturday night play two hours of dancefloor classics. The DJ is playing it this weekend as a request. He was going to play it last weekend when he was choosing all the music himself (it was his birthday) but decided not to as he didn't think anyone else would know the track!

Just an FYI - In 1985 there was an import on Capitol (from EMI-Holland) that had "Don't Take Away The Music" (Hands Off The Music Mix) running 8:15 on Side 1. "More Than A Woman" (Extended Remix) on Side 2 runs 5:43. Both mixes were by Ben Liebrand. I remember we started playing DTATM again because the mix was pretty good.

The orignal US 12" of "Don't Take away..." is pretty rare, worth about $120 I'd say. There is also a very scarce UK 12". Weird how the original is so hard to find on 12" despite being a big hit on and issued in many countries.
