If clever is peaceful, Wake up Everybody by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes.
    I\'m a Victim ( of th very Song I sing )

I'm currently amused by this clever line from "Newsy Neighbors" by First Choice:

"They tell what you can and what you can't afford---instead of gettin' a Caddy--they say get a Ford".
    "Lost inside adorable illusion...."

I've always loved and appreciated the lyrics in Kid Creole songs. My fave: "Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy." Especially the line that goes...

Oh Annie, I'm not your daddy
cause if I were in your blood
then you wouldn't be so ugly!

Listen to all Kid Creole songs as they will put a smile on your face :-)

    "por favor, vestite decente!
    y no me digas 'histérico!'"
    ......................................
"si te quito mi dinero tú no puedes vivir
    ay no ay no..."

Ah, good & old Kid Creole! 8)

I recently paid attention to Ray Parker jr.'s "A woman needs love (just like you do)". Here's a sample:

"A woman needs love just like you do
Don’t kid yourself into thinkin’ that she don’t
She can fool around just like you do
Unless you give her all the lovin’ she wants

Don’t the mistake of thinkin’ old fashioned
    Times have changed from yesterday
But no longer will those old double standards
Be accepted by the women of today

So when you think you’re foolin’ her
She just might be foolin’ you
Remember if you can do it
    She can too..."

    Wise advice 8)

Ah Nano, but Johnnie Taylor said it a decade earlier...

"Who's making love with your ole lady, while you were out making love?"

And I'm sure there are lotsa blues songs from the earlier part of the 20th century with the same warning!!!!

    Revelacion- Don't Give A Damn

T'was Cerrone and Don Ray's response to Leroy Gomez's response (Santa Esmeralda- Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood) for when Cerrone stole Revelacion - House of the Rising Sun from him... cute disco irony.

    "Don't Give A Damn"
"Go and call me those names."
    "I'm no freak, I'm a man."
"Made my choice, and now I've found my voice."
