Do inner paper sleeves damage lp's

I've read several record care guides that say paper inner sleeves scratch the surface of the vinyl every time you slip it in, they suggest acid free mylar or polyethylene lined sleeves.
Has anyone found this to be true?

Yes, especially with records that don't have a "lip" on the edge of the vinyl, such as many UK 12" singles.

Also, paper sleeves eventually disintegrate and leave lots of dust on the record... I've opened up enough records that have been sealed for 20+ years to know...

Well, if you always remove the vinyl without any consideration from these sleeves they almost certainly will cause small paper scuffs. A few of these scuffs won't matter that much, but many of these could eventually cause some crackling and/or surface noise.

I personally don't like them and always replace them instantly with padded/soft inner sleeves whenever I add some fresh vinyl to my collection...

Thanks for the response, I guess I'll need to start replacing mine, which will mean buying 400+ sleeves.

Where's a good place to buy replacement inner sleeves?

    And outer jackets (blank)?

    Thanks.
