Where Can You Buy Record Company Record Jackets?

I Would like to know if anybody out there knows where to buy Record Company Jackets from the Disco era (ie. Vanguard, RCA, Polydor, Moby Dick, Capitol, ect.) because I have a lot of vinyl in great condition, but my jackets are torn or missing. I usually go to thrift stores and used record shops to buy records for their jackets only, but this task is is getting harder & harder to do.

Buying cheap used records for their covers is really the only way as most dealers I know also pilfer the covers for other records. If I see 12" ers for under a $1 with good covers I just snap them up.

You do have to be careful to match 12" covers to the period. For example Warner issued several different covers with different artwork according to the years as shown below from earliest to the 1980s. Salsoul, Capitol, Arista and other labels did the same as well.

That is exactly, what I have been doing for years now, but nowadays people sell a "Rare" crapppy record with a Disco cover and they sell them for $7 & up that is high for just covers, unless it is very rare, but I will keep searching, and thaks again Bernie.

As stated in the previous posts: yep same here. The last sleeves I picked up for a buck were Sunnyview, Vanguard, 4th & Broadway (the pink/yellow one), Epic (the brownish one with the night life scene on it) and a nice blue Philly World sleeve.

What do I do with the records that don't have my interest in this case? I either sell them for two bucks :) or throw 'm in the bin.

As long as the label isn't overly rare then you should be able to find the sleeves you need. Sleeves such as West End, or 4th & Broadway shouldn't be that hard, while i.e. Nia- or Clockwork company sleeves are next to impossible to find.

Btw. Anybody got an answer to the fact why most sleeves/jackets were manufactured in Canada, while the records were pressed in the US?

You noticed that also! More than likely it was because it was less expensive to print them in Canada.

You noticed that also! More than likely it was because it was less expensive to print them in Canada.

Less expensive indeed sounds like the most obvious reason, perhaps this has something to do with the fact that Canada has VERY large pine forests, which of course is the natural source from which the sleeves are produced...
