I think your comparisions are bang on. I only have her LP, but I remember the Steve thompson/Cary Wade mixed "All Though Me" being the best track.
I recently saw the TK 12" of her 'Dancing in My Feet' track but didn't have time to listen to it in the shop. Could someone describe this track to me please as this one passed me by at the time ('78/'79?). Do you think I'd like it? (I imagine its in that Lorraine Johnson /Taka Boom/ Sarah Dash style of that wonderful era.)
...ya gotta beat the street......

Leather is the way forward!
I wasn't aware of her LP. I may hang out 'til I see that instead. Thanx Leatherman.

I find the song "Dancin' in My Feet (Theme from Disco Magic)" to be really dull - whereas "All Through Me" brings me on an incredible journey - better than any Donna Summer or Madleen Kane escapade. What does her "Some Love" sound like? (I read that it's great, too.) How soon before the LP is re-released as a CD? There doesn't seem to be any CD anywhere that has "All Through Me" on it. :( I seriously want that song. I just revisited Laura Taylor's official website and now it says "Laura Taylor is also a songwriter of merit. A collection of her original songs will soon be available on this site, including Think I'm In Love, recorded by Diana Ross, and several originals from Laura's hit album, Dancin In My Feet." Does that mean the lyrics will be online, or MP3s of the songs themselves, or what?
I LOVE Laura Taylor's "Danicng In My Feet"!!!!
I'm surprised the rest of you were so dismissive. I'd say it's more in the style of Teri DeSario "sound". ("Ain't Nothing Gonna Keep Me From You")...white girl singing something vaguely funky/Bee Gees--ish...
"I got dancing in my feet....the fires running through me... the feeling can't be beat....(can't recall the next phrase!!!)
wanna boogie, wanna get down (repeat 3 times)....cause I'm the queen and baby, you're the king-- at the disco tonight" (something like that...I may be making some of these lyrics up).
Has a sorta jazzy feel. This was a record I heard a lot in the late 70's and never knew who did it...til one day at Aloha Records...I saw the title and grabbed it. Marky says: You should do the same!!!!![]()
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Marky,
I have to agree with the rest of the crew here.....
ALL THRU ME was THE track
"Dancing in my Feet" is my favorite song of all time!
Don't forget - it is the THEME of the classic motion picture, "Disco Magic" (has anyone ever seen it?).
I have the TK 12 inch single, but would love this masterpiece on CD. I hope that the aforementioned Laura Taylor CD will include all of the songs discussed in this thread!
I pulled out my 12" of "I've Got Dancin' In My Feet" last night....and I still say it's a TERRIFIC RECORD. How ANYONE could not like it is beyond me. :P
The arrangement was really crafted in the Bee Gees-as- producer- style ( falsetto male vocals in support of a white female a'la' Teri DeSario)---I see at AMG that Laura even did backup work on a Teri DeSario production.
The only CD AMG lists by a Laura Taylor is a tribute to Julie London. Is this the same Laura Taylor or another singer with the same name? :o
