Steely,
Nice list! Don't forget:
Native New Yorker - Odyssey
All the Critics Love You in NY - Prince
I recently decided to do a tribute tape to the 'spritual home' of disco & the city that never sleeps (I know, I'm so cliched!)
'You Get High In New York City' - Revanche (Atlantic 7" '79)
'Am I Ever Gonna Fall in Love In NYC' - Grace Jones ('78 Island LP - the high point from her Fame LP IMO)
'In New York' - Passion - (Prelude LP '79 Produced by Mr.Amant, Ray Martinez)
'Im Never Gonna Leave You (New York) - Gotham Flasher (Keylock LP '79 Co-produced by Gino Soccio)
'New York' - Nuggets (Canadian London, written by the Tantra team of Valli & Taylor)
'Fire Island' - Village People (dont go in the bushes! or maybe I will...)
'Manhattan Love Song' - King Errison (Westbound 12" - another wonderful Mike Theodore production)
'NY You've Got Me Dancing' - Andrea True Connection (her final decent disco moment)
'New York City Boy' - Pet Shop Boys (I know its not classic 'disco', but I just love 'em)
'Manhattan' - Roundtree (Warner '78 the classic Rogers & Hart song)
'I Love New York' - Metropolis (Salsoul CD comp. '78. Good but not as brilliant as 'Greatest Show on Earth')
'Cruisin The Streets' - Boystown Gang ('81 - well, they do mention Christopher Street!! )
Can anyone think of any more NY titles? I'm sure there must be hundreds.
...ya gotta beat the street......
Steely,
Nice list! Don't forget:

NYCNYUSA - Fatback Band
Maybe a bit marginal....
Thanx Bernie, how could I forget Native New Yorker. I just remembered another, 'New Yorks On Fire' - 7th Avenue. Unfortunatley I cant put it on the tape 'cos its on my 'wants' list still! (& thanx occasio, I'm not familiar with that Fatback track).
...ya gotta beat the street......
i believe kelly marie had a song called "new york at night"

carmine
Thanx for that, I've remembered yet another too - 'Night in New York' by Elbow Bones & the Racketeers from '83. It's got to be the most sung about city. Nobody ever does 'Night in Colchester' or 'We Love Felixstowe' do they?
...ya gotta beat the street......
Metropolis: New York Is My Kind Of Town (1978)
Dennis Parker: New York By Night (1979)
Village People: Manhattan Woman (1979)
Extensions From Area Code: Manhattan Shuffle (1980)
Manhattan Transfer: Boy From New York City (1981)
Ice T: From New York To LA (1981)
Nina Hagen: New York, New York (1984)
Tyzik: Jammin' In Manhattan (1984)
:P
also on a more recent note we have
the pet shop boys with "new york city boy"
which has a very donna summer sounding violin section.

One that comes in my mind :
Klein & MBO : The big Apple
More italo disco than disco, but nice track ...
I\'m a Victim ( of th very Song I sing )
"Manhattan Skyline" by David Shire
"Manhattan Skyline" by MFSB
"New York City" - Village People, 1985, Record Shack Records. Written/Produced by Jacques Morali.
"New York Times" - Nancy Costa
"New York Cake" - Kano
"New York City Beat" - Man2Man
"New York Eyes" - Nicole w/Timmy Thomas
What!!! No Miroslav Vitous - New York City. A much overhyped record if ever there was one, but hey! who am I to argue with trendies everywhere.
The Girl From New York City -- Alec R Costandinos (not a disco track, but hey...)
Wow, so many tracks, some I know & some I don't. I've just thought of yet another too, 'Harlem Nocturne' by Wildflower on TK records.
...ya gotta beat the street......
This one ain't disco either, but you're British and I kinda remember you liked this band (I do):
"Hey Manhattan!" by Prefab Sprout 8)
a few more then.
Tyzik - New York Woman
JayMZ Nylon - New York Je T'adore
Manhatten Skyline - Jump Street Band
Casiopea - Mid-Manhattan
Herb Alpert - Manhattan Melody
.....The Brooklyn Bronx & Queens Band - that name qualifies too I guess.
All Music Guide must have had quite a few hits by now.
How's about (Steely as you're a Brit)
The Glitter Band - New York Groove which was considered Disco at the time.
Just a little story that may interest you.
When I worked in Mallorca, the guy I worked for was related to Mike Leander, producer of Gary Glitter and the Glitter Band recordings. The Band and Mike used to come to Mallorca for their summer holidays, with members of the Glitter Band being fairly regular punters at the discotheque where I DJ'd. One night, unbeknown to me, this guy was studying my every move as I DJ'd and my boss told me he'd take over for a few minutes 'cos Mike Leander would like to talk to me to discuss what was happening on the disco scene. All in all we talked for about 10 minutes and voila, so far as I remember a certain Makes You Blind was released (a definite change of direction for them, no?). I often wondered if our talk had any influence on that release 'cos although we saw each other again, I never got to actually discuss that record with him. I never palyed the track myself, so I had no way of knowing what it was like and hey, in the ever changing world of Disco it was already ancient history, by the time our paths crossed again.
Do you remember THE NIGHT THE LIGHTS WENT OUT in New York City (the 1st time they mean....) - The Trammps
No NY in the title but what the heck...
Here's another one : New York Eyes by Nicole McCloud & Timmy Thomas. Not a disco track really but I like it....
"Miss Manhattan" by Metropol, a jazzy Italian realese from 1978. Miss Amanda Lear also took a walk on the wild side through the nighttime side streets, alleys and docks of New York on her brilliant Incognito album.
Once again, not really disco, But Bob & Earl - Harlem Shuffle is a wonderful track.
I\'m a Victim ( of th very Song I sing )
Meco's "Meco's Theme/3 W. 57" because on the back cover I see "1978 A.D. New York City. Atop the Millenium Building, where I can hear the sounds of the city drifting upward".
Walther Murphy's "New York Suite". Jazz+latin hustle. It's not my WM's fave.
First really "DISCO" track I come up with, Nuggets - New York, nice track that sounds like Revanche.

I\'m a Victim ( of th very Song I sing )
Ok without digging through my entire collection to find the two I thought of:
"Angel Man" About NYC Guardian Angels, I cannot remember her name. I have it somewhere.
"Stranger in New York" Sung by John Rocca the guy that sang with Freeze. Maybe B side to "I want it to be real"
I'm activating brain cells that have been dormant for 20 + years.
Did anyone mention "Boogie down Bronx" Mann Parrish
