The Disco World Has Lost Another Legend: Tony Thomas

    Hey Gang:

It is with a broken heart I'm reporting to all that Tony Thomas, legendary drummer for Chic, was unable to win his battle with cancer. He passed away yesterday morning Wednesday Nov 12th. As I mentioned in my previous post he had been battling Renal Cell Carcinoma and was undergoing treatment. My heartfelt condolences to Mr. Thomas family, friends and fans. He will be greatly missed.

To read a tribute to him by Nile Rodgers go to Nile's official website at www.nilerodgers.com.

Sad news indeed. Now we have only 1/3 of the greatest rhythm team DISCO ever produced with us.

Tony Thompson was a brilliant, amazing drummer. Just chech his performance on I'M COMING OUT by DIANA ROSS or listen to those early CHIC albums. The guy was a genius, no doubt about it.

    Tony, R.I.P.,

I think Tony Thompson did those crazy and strong beats on "Chic Cheer". Bad news :( :( :( .

    Very sad.

On a lighter note, according to Nile's site, there is to be a new Chic album released in 2004.

This is not good news at all. Throughout the last year or so, way too many outstanding talents have left us.

Hopefully Tony and Bernard will make heaven a funky place.

That's really sad to hear. He was one of the best drummers in disco.
