Hated Bumblebee, liked many, many Adams records and played a fair few (because they worked, not because they were Adams' productions).

I've found it surprising (after the event) that he was involved in so many records and of such differing standards.
In that respect, I for one wouldn't be able to listen to a later track and say "ah yes, that's a Patrick Adams production", whereas many of his earlier collaborations with Greg Carmichael were oh, so distinctive.

    Overall a biggish thumbs up.

As a disco newbie (almost 3 years now  ), I'm still often afraid to state my opinion in disco-savvy company, but, I mean, Bumblebee Unlimited, it's horrible, right ? I mean, "Funk for days" is tolerable, but the other ones ? Is anybody able to listen to them ? :o

It's thoroughly understandable why Bumblebee may not be everyone's cup of tea. I suppose the whole concept was probably some sort of in-joke. But with a bit of re-editing, some of the tracks can lose the chipmunks.

I personally love 'I Got A Big Bee', the yin to Donna McGee's 'Mr. Blindman''s yang.

Which left me to ponder if "Funk for days" was really a B.U track. After some verifications on discogs, it's not. :( Which means that there's absolutely no Bumblebee track that I can listen. And which also means that I'm left with a track on a compilation with the wrong band. I hate when that happens. The joys of file-sharing...

'Funk For Days' is on the flip of Bumblebee's 'Everybody Dance' 7" on Mercury, but not on the 12". It sounds a lot older than the topside, so I assume it's just a previously unissued session from Adams & co.

I played 'Barely Breaking Even' by universal Robot Band the other day & thought how much it sounded like Phreeek's 'Weekend' on the opening beats so I s'pose there is a sort of distinctive Adams/Carmichael sound, but not as distinctive as many other disco producers.

Bumblebee Unlimited quickly became annoying to me. Like a fly buzzing around my head. I played lots of PAP's but not because they had his name stamped on it. A lot of the records, like "Weekend", were damn good.

and what was there reaction on the dance floor
    Crowd reaction was always good.

Keyboards on the album are credited to both Patrick Adams and Gregory Carmichael.

Yes, this is a 7" only release and sounds much funkier than the other BU stuff. The groove is strong and the track is outstanding.
Probably "Love bug" and "Lady Bug" are quite repetitive and silly, but the idea worked. "Lady Bug" was an underground cult track here...
I also like "Space shuttle ride".
