Yes, I have a few Irakere LPs and this one is knocking around somewhere. Went to pull it out and found 'Cuba Libre' instead (d'oh)...
If you're maybe thinking of some disco Irakere, I hope you already have 'Baila Mi Ritmo', which is just irresistable - even Latin/salsa puritans have to DANCE!
Their best known club track here is 'Chekere Son', which boasts the absolutely dirtiest baritone sax solo ever, by the man like Paquito - and it's disco tempoed. The LP of same name also features 'La Comparsa' which is 4-to-the-floor and complete with disco breakdown.

I'm no expert on the band, but they are certainly one of the liveliest, most spirited aggregations I've ever heard. :D

I might be stating the obvious here, but this has nothing to do with Rinlew. It is band called Irakere who have just happened to call their LP El Coco.

I had this LP once, it was too vocal salsa for my taste.
    Leather is the way forward!

My lp with "Baila Mi Ritmo" on it is titled Irakere 2 or Irakere II, depending if you're reading the jacket or the record label. 1980, CBS, produced by Bert deCoteaux and Mike Berniker. The last song on Side 2 is "Por Romper El Coco". Is this what had you going, Philip? :)

Irakere is a world famous cuban combo.
They are a sort of institution where the men pass but the band remains. They are still very active nowdays playing cuban jazz & salsa.
Irakere is probably the only cuban group that recorded and issued records in the US during the 70s
