What would you do without your muesli...where would you be without a bowl?
Nice strike Graham. I see you have one of my favorite tracks: "Love Insurance" by Front Page. I will harp on this record till I die! Everyone should have a copy.
Surprised at your reaction to the Richard Hewson Orchestra 12" single. For some strange reason I have a negative on this one. Not even sure if I have this, but will have to revisit it after your positive comments. Maybe I have it on a CD somewhere.
How different are the Tantra remix albums from stock?

Interesting observation as I picked up the 12" on AVI of this last week. Never made the connection. Will also have to revisit this tonight.Originally Written by Forrrce

Hey Graham. How is that Phylicia Allen? I heard she did disco music but I don't think I've heard her music.
Find them and destroy them!
Pure camp. Produced by Jacques Morali, featuring the Village People on backing vocals, and loosely based on the life of Josephine Baker.Originally Written by paul
She's actually a good singer if you can see past all that. :)
Well, it seems we have opposite tastes. I thought Love Insurance was only "okay". "What Shall We Do..." is a bit campy, but catchy and I really like it -- although they overextended it.Originally Written by Bernie
I'm not sure, as they are remixes of their shorter tracks. Prior to today I was really only familiar with Katmandu and Wishbone. How different are the Tantra remix albums from stock?
I always like Front Page myself Bernie. I always that it had an excellent feel to it just like Brainstorm - Love is really my game. question were did u get these records? ebay???? or local record store
Okay, now I see the connection. She married the lead singer of the Village People who is a total loser now!Originally Written by Graham_Start
I thought she was married to some sportscaster -- Phylicia Allen-Rashad, isn't it? Or is that her sister, Debbie?Originally Written by Leanmean
Leanmean --- GREAT TO SEE YOU!! :D
Graham,
Who is Claude Denjean? What's the music like? I'm thinking not disco because of the title.
I got them from Cosmos, a local record store that specializes in funk, soul, disco, jazz, etc. Unfortunately, the owner actually knows the real value of these records, so they don't come cheap (I guess I've been spoiled by all the $1 and $2 treasures I've accumulated over the years). However, there are two 1200s set up in the shop, so you can listen to anything and decide if it's worth the asking price.Originally Written by mixtape
Funny you should mention "Loving Is Really My Game". This was a song I'd heard all about, but not actually heard until today. There was a domestic copy for $14 Cnd... gave it a quick listen... nice, but nothing that blew me away... not worth $14 anyway (Love Insurance was only $5).
Quebecois instrumental synth pop from the mid-70s, mostly covers of standards ("Feelings", "Moon River") but with a couple of original numbers. Cheesy, but charming nonetheless. I found a 7" single a few months ago, so it was nice discovering that there was a full LP. Seems these old "moog" records are quite in vogue these days.Originally Written by NickNack
That's her... she later played Mrs. Huxtable on The Cosby Show.Originally Written by NickNack
I second that!Leanmean --- GREAT TO SEE YOU!! :D
Update: "The Double Remix" is merely a 2-track 12" with different mixes of "Top Shot" and "Get Happy". The former has been changed quite a bit, with the remix having much more synth and less of that overdriven guitar sound that drives the original. In contrast, the remix of "Get Happy" isn't very different -- just longer, and with better instrument seperation in the mix.Originally Written by Bernie
A journalist pal went to interview Phylicia Allen about her tv career armed with the album in hopes of getting it autographed. When the vinyl was presented to her she incredibly claimed she had never recorded it, saying she had no idea what the lp was. "it is a great honour to dedicate this album to miss Josephine Baker, the first international black superstar" or something like that...
Anyway, Richard Hewison Orch also did a fab 7" called "Love Bite" that came out as "Love Shark" in some territories.
Yeah Nicky. She was married to lead singer for TVP and later to Ahmad(sp) Rashad, the football player/sports commentator.
Find them and destroy them!
where is the store?? I got my copy of Brainstorm for $6
Jussi, I have that Richard Hewson 7" 'Lovebite' on Splash records & it is very good. The b side is called 'Hammerhead'; wonder what the shark connection was all about? :-?
Isn't it strange that although Mr.Hewson is British he seems to mean so much more in the US & mainland Europe. The UK never appreciates talent.

Graham, does Ian Levine write & produce that Eastbound Expressway LP? I always liked their mid-80's 'hi-nrg' stuff like 'Frantic Love' & 'Primitive Desire'.
...ya gotta beat the street......
3 of the tracks are Ian Levine/Fiachra Trench, the final one is Ian Levine/Paul David Wilson.Originally Written by Steely Dan
