    Plush - Free & easy

Hi people i'm new to this site!
I am a big fan of Jazz funk, soul, disco & rare grooves music from the 70's & 80's (mainly the 80's to be honest!)

Anyhow i thought i'd start off by saying that there is one tune from the 80's that i'm absolutely loving at the moment & that is by the Group "Plush" with the track "Free and easy" from 1982 - superb track!
Some others i'm likeing as well are:

    Bobby Mardis - Keep on
Marcus Miller - I could give you more
Marc Sadane - Baby wont cha'

    .....................to name but a few!

Anyone else like these specific tracks?

May I take it upon myself to welcome you first, Groovysoul.
    Look out for the savages!!
Also, check the Rene & Angela version of 'Free & Easy' from 1980 - it's excellent. Used to love the Boddy Mardis as well...

The Marcus Miller track wasn't that bad actually. I fact I still have a habbit of pulling out his 1984 album from time to time even though I must say it's sounds a bit dated. The amount of drumachines on the "Juice" instrumental is hilarious. The "suddenly" LP from the year before was better though...more organic sounding and more interesting tracks alltogether.

Too bad Marcus Miller couldn't really sing! Thankfully he almost stopped doing that later in his career (ie the 90s albums for Dreyfuss Records)

I never got into those Marcus LPs - though I loved his version of 'Lovin' You (Is Such An Easy Thang To Do)' which, let's face it, was purpose built for Mr. Miller. One of his '90s 'smooth jazz' tunes was excellent also - 'Rush Over', which featured vocals by Meshell Ndege O'cello.

But early '80s wise, I always give it up for his super-funky playing on all those Luther productions. And that one-off 12" he produced in 1983 - 'Love Rockin'' by Terry Burrus & Transe - uber heavy funk, or what..???? :o

    Forrrce,
"Rush over" is a good one indeed. Miller and me'shel wrote this one together which could explain why it sounds a bit different than the rest of the stuff he did.
It is from Millers "Tales" set of 1995, in my opinion the best stuff he's ever recorded (pretty far removed from anything disco though  )

Funny u should mention Terry Burrus. I recently found an album of his in the bargins somewhere entitled "Nation 2 Nation"....OMG what a load of crap. It still surprises me to this day how such a bunch of ultra talented musicians (among them Lenny White, Tom Browne & Roy Ayers) could create such sad disc. If you know it you'll know what I mean...if not - don't bother about it  )

I always thought the slow tracks on that Marcus Miller LP were the better bets such as 'Nadine' & 'The Perfect Guy'.
