Funky Disco House (Sample Inside) *UPDATED*

My friends and I have been having a really tough time with this Track ID. We've spent at least 2 days scouring the internet, message boards and chat rooms - in a full on attempt to identify what artist and titles this song is, but NO ONE KNOWS!

If you’re up to the challenge, could you shed some light as to who and what you think this might be? It'd really help settle our minds and be incredibly appreciated!

    http://24.161.120.181/uploads/06.mp3

As you can see, this is no easy task - my friends and I consider ourselves very musically educated, and boy do we need help on this one!

    What We Know:

The original from which it was remade, is "I got a thing" originally by Silver, Platinum & Gold in 1976.

The guitar rift is actually taken from the guitar line from "I Got The Feeling" - by Tons o Fun, pitched it up and used in this track.

Dimitri from Paris did a remix of this track, but he used the original and didn't add the synths... He made it more into an extended vocal version.

Dave Lee / Joey Negro - also did a remake of this song as Foreal People feat. Taana - and called the track "Gotta thing". The exact sample could be some remix of his track, but as mentioned, this sample is not a remix...

Isn't necessarily new. It could range from the 80s to the 2000s. It's also not an obscure track. It's supposed to be a well-established single with successful chart run, made by a moderately well-known artist in their day.

We also know that it isn’t a remix...

We think it may be by Thomas Bangalter (Daft Punk), Ian Pooley, Phats n Small, PJ, Conga Squad, Fab Four, Glasgow Gangster or Angel Alanis....

We don's support filesharing - so our sources are limited, as we can't afford to purchase every possible album to check them ...

Any input would be GREAT! It would really help us out!
    Thank You Very Much!

Ed D --- WELCOME TO THE BOARD

I am not a house head so I'll leave the id to those in the know. In the interim check the board out and see what you can get into. I can tell you that whatever song it is it's sampling "I Got The Feeling" by Two Tons 'o Fun (a/k/a The Weather Girls).

Thank you very much for your responce ... question thou...

from what i am told, this sample is an original, not a remix ...

so how would it be that it would be sampling Two Tons ?

Thank you very much thus far!

    Let me clarify:

I'm not saying that the track is remixed. I'm saying they've taken the guitar line from "I Got The Feeling", pitched it up and are using it in this song. If they're touting the music as "original" then, well... they're lying.

alright nicknack and others ... this is what i've come up with soo far, tell me what you think (if i'm wrong!)

this track is is "I got a thing" originally by Silver, Platinum & Gold in 1976... But this is not from the original.

The original guitar rift is actually taken from the guitar line from "I Got The Feeling" - by Tons o Fun, pitched it up and used in this track.

Dimitri from Paris did a remix of this track, but he used the
original and didn't add the synths... He made it more into an extended vocal version.

Dave Lee / Joey Negro - also did a remake of this song as Foreal People
feat. Taana - and called the track "Gotta thing". The exact sample could be some remix of his track, but as mentioned, this sample is not a remix ...

as of right now, i have yet to find the "original" that is exactly the sample ... but all me research shows that the above is all valid ...

the only problem is that i MUST find the EXACT ORIGIN that the track sample is from .... =/

thanks NickNack ... thats where i got the idea from, about a site that would contain such info - because that link is very cool ... unfortunatly, that site doesn't have this song ...

i was also informed that this may be the Patrick Cowley remix of I Got The Feeling? Anyone confirm this? This sample sounds much more current ...

And o masterfull Bernie has no input? :P

Reading this thread make me nostalgic for the days when ALL THE ELEMENTS OF A SONG were from the same writer/producer/artist.---- NOT lifted from disparate sources and foisted upon the public as something creatively new.

People making records should be musicians....they should be capable of writing their own basslines and catchy choruses and coming up with guitar riffs and instrumental hooks--instead of pilfering what was written in the past by REAL MUSICIANS and calling it something they invented!!!!

    blablabla

this sure sounded like Doug Willis "Two tons of Doug", but the version you uploaded is slightly different and I dont know of any remixes to "2 Tons", so that will have to be yet another band. Check out Doug's version though, it's very similar & sweet. It's on Joey Negro's "Disco Connection" mix cd, or, of course, on Soulseek (at least I know I share it...)

    GAH!!

Ok, so i've actually been waiting on a responce from someone who supposivly knows what it is ... its like a trivia type thing, so he can't tell me much unless i'm correct

after telling him the whole story that i know its originally I got a thing, with the guitars from I Got The Feeling - he said:

That's true. It is a very popular sample. But that's not the track I have. There's actually a clue in the soundclip about what to look for.

So i'm back to square one, trying to 'examine' this track - in order to figure out who it may be...

these are my assumptions at this point :

it's almost certainly a remake by : Thomas Bangalter (Daft Punk), Ian Pooley, Phats n Small, PJ, Conga Squad, Fab Four, or Angel Alanis....

Otherwise, as you can see, i've spent over a week going crazy over this sample ... Who's got/is a source of information that could help me on this?!?!

    THANKSSS!!!!

I love you like the son I haven't had yet!

This has been the biggest ordeal in my recent life - truly exciting!

I’ve spent my nights for the past week, indoors - solving a list of 8 samples that I was challenged to resolve.

Being so involved in the electronic scene and a multi-genre DJ myself - I did nothing but go crazy over this - it would be upsetting if I couldn't solve this!

so after a few straight nights of spending 5-10 hours of doing NOTHING BUT surfing the net - calling record stores - talking personally to dozens of disco freaks and webmasters, and sitting through hundreds of Amazon samples - I was really getting disappointed that I couldn’t solve this

Then I was recently informed someone solved them all
(I’m 90% sure he is reading this now, as it appears he has been leeching hints and answers off this thread!)
But he made the mistake of submitting un-researched answers!! So after much stress, determination, and YOUR HELP - I have solved the puzzle!

I swear, I can't thank you enough! Thanks Guys ... NickNack, vodka, and Stan - you are all incredibly helpful - and I’ll return the favor anytime you need!

AND BEST OF ALL- your from LEEDS!! i just moved back to NYC, after living in Leeds for 6 months!! WHAT A GREAT PLACE!! In return of your help, i'll easily let you come and crash at my place, if u ever want to come to NYC!!
