    best shop in NY?

    Hi everybody,

I'm in NY in two or three weeks and I would like to spend some money there in second hand LPs and 12". Do you know good shops I could go to?
    Thanks!

hmm... definetly go to the village. There is a DJ store called Vinyl Mania. Its at 60 Carmine Street, New York, N.Y. 10014. They don't have used 12"s but they certainly have a large collection of LP's and disco records. If you are looking for a new house record definetly go there! If you walk in the village there are a lot of metal record stores but sometimes I see outside of the store used records for 2 bucks and they have new wave, rap, disco everything so I find good buy's there.

Rock & Soul Electronics used to be good for music. I haven't been in years so give them a call first and see what they're doing now.

Be on the lookout for N.Y. record fairs as well. I went to one there once and the amount of good cheap stuff I got there was amazing - I just could't stop buying (and it's not a good idea filling up your backpack with CD's when u got a US cross country trip ahead of you, I might add  )
    There was life after disco!!

Heartbeat off 6th avenue has a nice selection of used 12's. Vinylmania used to have a real nice selection of repress oldies, but they might have stopped selling them?

nope Rab, they still have a ton of oldies repressed! and sometimes they even have original 12"'s in a basket that are used. You can find some good things in there! I found Blowfly - Christmas & New Year's Medley on T.K. used.
