Hi Kerry, glad you joined the party! Give our regards to Mick as well! I'll join him on MySpace too!
hey, i've been a member on the forum for a while now, but just now decided to introduce myself. my name is fraser, aka the boogie doctor, and i love disco, mainly for its raw, funky emotionalism. i'm into artists such as sylvester, d-train, teddy pendergrass, arthur russell, etc and just love to get down and get bad on the dancefloor. cheers!
Hi Doc, if you like those artists you will certainly enjoy yourself here! Thx for joining and feel free to post, comment and DISCOver the whole site!
Welcome 2 da club!
Hi eveyone,
My name is Pat Cronenberg from Belgium.
I have been lurking the past few weeks and felt it was time to come out of the closet:icon_smile:. I have fond memories about the disco years 76-81 or thereabouts.
The first record I bought was Cerrone's (Costandinos) masterpiece 'Love in C Minor' which is still one of my favorite records of all time. The symphonic sound he and Costandinos produced retained its magic over the decades imho.
After the disco years, I was a bit lost until I discovered the group Imagination and their spring/summer 81 hit Body Talk. They replaced Cerrone, Costandinos, Malavasi, Meco,....
Coincidentally I am working at present for Leee John, Imagination's founder and lead singer who is still very active and kicking.
But those disco years will always remain the most special period for me.

Welcome 2 the board JB, make yourself at home and don't be afraid to post and participate! Have a funkin' good time!
"...by Videoskooter: Hi Stephen, welcome 2 da board! I'm sure you'll be telling us a lot about many Hot Tracks!"
Shuffling the above quote to a better location and THANKS Videoscooter!
I've been "lurking" for years, but never had the time to sit down and get all plugged-in, so to speak. But, with the level of misinformation about Alec Costandinos, and EuroDisco in general, that's been bantered about, I figured it might help to bring some straight facts to the pages that have gone awry.
Although I'm fairly certain the Disco Queen Mum's "opinion" will peek through, here and there. But, after more than 3 decades in the business, I'm hoping that qualifies, as well.
It's great to be here. Cheers to all...Stephen L.

I don't know if this is the most appropiate category to say hello to all of you...
I'm Eva from Barcelona (hi there! ;) ) and
I still can't believe that I found a site like this!!!:icon_eek: cause i'm an absolute junkie of funk and disco music!!! I'm not a dj, and a collector neither (there are just 3 disco music vynil records here at home!lol!!!) so i'm not an expert and noboy around me can understand my obsession or teach me a few about it. But i always had something calling me to any 70s stuff since i was born (and i was born in the 87! :icon_lol: )....call it a "disco instinct"? hahaahha
yesssssssss!!! i have no records , just a few songs (downloaded illegally by p2p programs....errit's the only way to get that music) but much love for Disco Music!:icon_mrgreen:
I found this by surfing on the net, looking for more information (i'm still not familyarized with words like 12 inch) and i found a huge list of 12 inch songs! comingo from discomusic.com
so excuse me for my IGNORANCE.....and also for my english (u see i'm not a native speaker and dunno very much to use it. Sorry thpusand times!!!)
and thanx for your existance! i'm so proud to have registered here!:icon_mrgreen:
Hi Eva, great that you decided to join us! Welcome 2 da club and feel free to reply to and open new threads! Don't worry about your English, mine isn't perfect either

aaaaaaw!!!! thaaaaaaaaanx!!!! :icon_biggrin: many many thanx for your welcome!!!:icon_mrgreen:
oops!!! i knew there was a "introduce yourself" thread but couldn't find it. I didn't know what a Lurker was till now :icon_lol: and i think i'm one of those ^^U.
Cause i don't know a thing about this music, the only thing i know is that i LOVE it! Specially disco-funk, but i'm still learning where are the limits of disco music and all the rest too!!! i want to know it ALL!
first of all, you should know how unfunky is all around me! i make it funky!!! but nobody understands my feeling here, i can't share with anyone, that's why i'm so happy that i found you!!!:icon_mrgreen:
It's so rare that i've never got any influence , just few music coming from my brother's bed room (he used to listen Chic, earth wind and fire and jamiroquai sometimes), enough to feel a big atraction to ANYTHING from the 70s!:icon_eek: something totally inexplainable! cause i never lived that time, and ,well, my brother bought a disco compilation some years later with disco classics known by all by he never had no idea about it. All the disco stuff in my home were 3 vynils:a Donna Summer greatest heats (never played), a Boney M one (don't remember to hear it many times) and "music and lights" spanish edition from Imagination (they just heard the famous hit from it). My father said that James Brown shouted too much!!! so where does this love for black music comes from? and why it was always specially in any disco stuff???
you say here that's nothin about the age.....but, hehehehe at least, if you've got 30 you have had enough time to buy (or not) and look for more music. I'm 19 but i've got so much passion for it, i'm sure i'll get to the highest point of it with your help!always regret why i haven't bornt before!:icon_evil: my parents had the perfect age for it but they couldn't enjoy this amazing culture because what they were living here, they had to help at home, working and all that stuff that luckyly i don't have to.
which is the topic to discusss about discomusic ?
thanx!

Just a quick intro. I used to be a mobile and club DJ in Pittsburgh and then later in the Boston area. Some of my favorite clubs in da burgh used to be Heaven, The Ritz, Holiday House, Sanctuary.... Few of the folks that i used to hang with made it on Dance Fever. A friend of mine, Rick Janakowski used to have a radio show called "Disco to Go" which was a lot of fun.
Stopped doing mobile work about 10 years ago, but have recently pulled out some of my old 12" to put together music for some of the cardio tennis classes I teach.
I found this site last week and am enjoying it!
Hi,
I'm Dayna, I'm not a lurker but wanted to introduce myself..Well I might have been a lurker as I always came to the site because I love it and I got info here when I couldnt find it anywhere else.
I recently registered and am glad I did, some might know me from my DVa Music sites on Myspace,I see people on the forums that I recognize and already find the people to be very friendly and non judgemental as I have encountered Ignorance and Intolorance on other sites.
My love of Disco comes from running away from home and taking solice in a place where I was accepted and celebrated for my Diversity."The Gay Disco".I worked in Discos from the age of 16 "my bad" till the age of 21..This was in the height of the Disco era, I lived my life to the soundtrack of the pulsating Disco music of the late 70's early 80's..one place I worked was The Copa in Fort Lauderdale florida .I am the Boy that grew up to be a Woman a Woman that will always have Disco in her heart..Nice to meet you all........Dayna![]()
Yes Dayna, let's do the official welcome here!
I know you definitely got the Disco fever and I'm sure you will enjoy yourself on the board!
Have a great ride!
