    The Age of Reason

Anyone remember "The Age of Reason" by John Farnham?

It's on a tape I have from a famous former NYC dj.

I remember it very well. In fact some pretty good 12" versions of both this track as well as "Pressure Down" came out back back then. The extended mix of Age of Reason clocks at 7:41.
Usually I'm not into these "Dance Rock" kinda things but I liked these a lot :)

K-Bee's right. This piece of Dance/Rock was hot. I couldn't stop playing this song. The first time I used it someone on the floor said, "what now"? They soon found out. Excellent. And now K-Bee will have me looking for "Pressure Down" as I don't know this one. :)

suppose I should give you the full details of the Pressure Down 12" then
    Here Goes:

    John Farnham - Pressure Down (RCA PT 41 262 - 1986)

The pressure down extended mix clocks at 5:53 and is remixed by Neil Dorfsman (whoever that is  )

:( I should have asked the seller the catalog number before I purchased. I got a 3:50 version on 12" which is just, OK, nothing like "Age of Reason", not even that club friendly. Just a nice piece of soft rock. Oh well, try, try again.

The one I remember from Farnham is "You got the voice", I think it's on the same album. Hot ticket at the Buenos Aires clubs around 1987.

    Nano,
Actually it was called "You're The Voice" and you're right....It was on the "Whispering Jack" album by Farnham along with "Pressure Down".
"You're The Voice" was probably his biggest hit ever....it occupied the radio airwaves for almost an entire year over here around 1987.

    Bumblebee,
You may be right about the song not being an actual disco track....but that should definetely not stop anybody from discussing it. In fact a lot of members around here are into that 80s kinda dance-rock-pop thing and everybody should (and thankfully do) have the full right to share opinions about this type of music as well. That's what keeps the board fresh in my book.

    i get alittle bit passionate

thanx k-bee & efunkadelic i know iwas maybe a bit harsh on the track but i just keep thinking that you dropped the track in the late 70s.dont get me wrong i think the song has good qualities for a dance rockl pop crossover kinda track or what ever you want to call it i just dont think that the sound is very disco. and i was being sarcastic about the not being spoken about.(it just must be that he is an australian icon who gets guests spots on australias version of american idol)im sorry if i offended anybodys taste but i was just shocked to see people saying the track was hot.ps its funny to see rock pop dance being talked about in disco music forums when the track came out in the mid to late 80s . YOU GUYS ROCK

    Hey bumblebee,

My interest comes from the fact that the only John Farnham I ever heard was "Age of Reason". Just want to see what else the guy had up his sleeves. BTW: I'm one of the dj's who played the hell out of "Age of Reason" because I felt it was that hot. Plus it got great floor reaction. PROUD TO BE A 12" JUNKIE! :D
