After 1 year of re-buying it, now I can listen to it!

Finally I could get an old sound system with turntable, make it fixed and connect it at home. Now I can listen to all that vinyl that I began to buy -thanks to the passion you guys put on doing it- around a year ago on bargain bins and fairs. Well! Certainly one can pile up a lot of junk... oops! I mean collect many treasures...

Anyway, on these 100-or-so LP bunch I found many old memories, some surprises and also, have to admit, pretty much boring stuff. But it's worthwhile and I plan to keep on buying them... you won, fellas! Now I'm hooked.
I've been thinking in how to review the items, maybe I can use the very faces Bernie puts here for us. Could be something like this:

I have to agree with u about 'Deadeye Dick' - what a dreadful record! I disagree about the Players Association & Theo Vaness tracks u didn't like though; I think they're rather good. I also cannot understand why everyone likes 'S Beat' by Gino Soccio; I like alot of his stuff but this track is not very good IMO. There is alot of quality music in your list; happy listening!

And I thought I was the only one who felt this way about Kumano. "I'll Cry For You," which has parts that sound like Bryan Adams "Let Me Take You Dancing" has grown on me a little since I added it to the Vault...

Funny thing is that I hadn't pulled the album in a while until I heard "I'll Cry For You" on the Absolutely Disco Boxset. While this one song has gotten a bit bettter after repeated listening, the overall album should be buried. Love your analogy of his voice to the cover.

You know, the funny thing is I buyed it for the label (Prelude) AND the cover... made me think it was something synth-disco, which I like... what the hell has that -and the name Kumano- to do with the music inside? :roll:
Now as I read your posts I put the record in the turntable and I'm listening to "I'll cry for you" right now (AND AIN'T THAT A PLEASURE FELLAS! 8) 8) 8) phew!), and yes, it's quite pleasurable. Maybe this one will become a "guilty pleasure"? :o

Steely: yes, I also get bored with the "S-Beat" track, but I was ranking the album anyway. The rest it so good... and I like how in "Runaway" the same formula of "S-Beat" is used with so better results.
About Players Assoc., it's just my taste... instrumental easy-listening versions of hits leave me pretty cold (same with Salsoul Orchestra, Deodato, etc.) The rock/serious jazz fan in me wants more energy, better solos, you know what I mean... Otherwise it's very close to muzak, but I admit it's just my taste (many 20 year olds crave Esquivel and lounge music, so what can I say? :roll: )

This vinyl thing kept me happy since I put the turntable on... and I have to thank for that to all the people in this forum for being contagious on their passion. Today you made my day, fellas. :D

'S-Beat' is a pretty ropey album, but I really used to like 'Love Is', which sounds rather like Peter Brown in places. I always found the bridge particularly appealing, it's very sweet. I have been ribbed for this admission!

There's another track on the LP, which again, has a bridge better than the main section. Its title escapes me, but it's rhythmically similar to The Jacksons' 'Shake Your Body Down To The Ground' and chorus features the lines, '...first there came the day...and then there came the night...the dawn of creation...' - the track may be called 'Creation'. Don't think I have the LP anymore.

It's the last track of the LP, called "I wanna take you there (now)".

And yes, Marky, of course I think the same about "Rhythm of the world". I will sound proudish but you can find this it in the S-Beat entry in the A-Z vault, which was done by... myself. :oops:
