Wow that sounds brilliant. I really enjoyed Ian's 'Strange World of northern soul' video/DVD; I know alot more about hi-nrg so I will find this one even more interesting & I have a huge regard for Ian's body of work but I find it annoying that in recent times Mr.Levine has slagged hi-nrg off as being 'tinny, crappy music' when giving interviews to promote his northern soul nights in London. I'm sure he's very grateful for the money it must've made for him during the 80's.

He llo Steely Dan and thanks for you reply, your not the only one who gets annoyed at some of ian's comments to the media i can assure you. However in this instance i think that what he was trying to say was that some of the stuff he did in the 80's he still loves and is very proud of, however some of the stuff I'm sure you'll agree does sound a bit dated. Glad you enjoyed " Strange World" and I hope The Hi NRG story meets with your approval, I've got to say I really love it. BTW , yes Ian made real money from Hi NRG in the 80's subsequently to blow the lot on the ill fated Motor city records project in the early 90's.He is Still a huge Disco and Hi NRG fan I can assure you. However controversy is never far from my dear friend, and I suspect this will always be the case. Bst wishes

According to Charley records January is a Scheduled release date. I am currently trying(without much success) to organise a club night with Levine Dj ing all the Hi NRG classics in tandem with the launch of the DVD. I will announce on here any news as soon as I have any.

At the moment Charly have still not scheduled a release date as far as i'm aware. Its all in the can, the Sleeve notes have been written , so now i guess its just a case of Charly records getting it out there. I'm finding it as frustrating as you guys .

Hi Marco , as I said, Charly have done nothing with this yet, they have ownership rights and at the moment show no sign of wanting to release it, as a result there is no URl, no Launch party planned, nothing. As soon as the situation changes I'll let you all know.

Guys. your frustration over this only mirrors my own. I have approached Charly records today in an attempt to encourage them to release this, If they don't think there is a market enough to justify releasing it i will attempt to licence this and release it myself. i will keep you all informed.

whatever happened to this would of loved to of been able to get hold of this why do people do that whats the point in gathering all the info together and letting people know that this is happening and then dont release it what a shame i just love HI-NRG

The rights to this are owned by Charley acquisitions Ltd, they also own the rights to many of the songs fetured in it. I guess from a business point of view they have made money from the licensing rights to those songs, and feel no need to put out the DVD, which is a real shame. Sadly there is nothing any of us can do about it.
