A certain CD from Unidisc give us...
"Let's All Chant" by MZB (Remix) - 8:03
"Let's All Chant" by MZB (Original) - 6:58
The remix is pure house. Probably did by Michael Zager himself.
Just how many versions of Michael Zager Band's "Let's All Chant" are out there?
I prefer the original from '78, but it sounds like the band (or someone claiming to be MZB) re-recorded (or remixed) it a couple of times. I believe subsequent recordings added more of a drum machine/synth sound to it - this is the version that is most commonly found on CD compilations...and it just ain't right!
I remember falling in love with this song when I saw "Eyes of Laura Mars" and it played during the fashion shoot scene.

There was also a remake with a Michael Zager remix by Gusto from ~1996.
If you seriously like this song, the only version you need is the superior cover by UK duo Mick & Pat. IMO this remake took the song to the next level and was the version the got played in the more underground clubs.
Leather is the way forward!
The Eyes of Laura Mars soundtrack album offers a version without the classical bit in the middle, otherwise full length. This is the one I've been spinning.
"Body Language" by The Spinners, from their "Dancin' & Lovin'" album (1979), contains some reworked/rerecorded portions of "Let's All Chant". (Same producer Michael Zager.)
Mentioning Lets All Chant, the album, called the same name, is a winner! Was Love Express a single too? And if you check out the site allmusicguide you can find American chart possies for heaps of disco acts but not Michael Zager Band. I know Lets All Chant got to No 36 there but does that mean he had no more success there with other greats like Lifes A Party?
The only version that matters is the 7:05 1978 Original 12 inch
I have it on CD via Disco Nights, Vol. 7: DJ Pix which I believe took it from vynal (which since it is the original recording is much preferred over a digitally recorded remake even with the same musicans and vocalists) Let's All Chant: The Michael Zager Dance Collection used a 2nd generation studio master (I had read somewhere the 1st generation master is gone.)
