I've NOT heard this played here on the radio....but I sure pulled out my CD of the complete Thom Bell sessions and gave it a spin. Just a terrific track.

Also of note, Miss Summer's daughter, Brooklyn Sudano has joined the cast of some UPN sitcom....is it "One On One"? ...this was in a recent TV Guide.

Ah how time flies, as Jeff put it. The disco babies are now all grownup and starring on bad sitcoms. :P

Now it occurs to me it's strange Donna didn't do some acting on movies or TV. She was in one of the casts of Hair, after all.
I'm pretty sure she has had offers. After all, even Britney and Mariah try a hand at Hollywood! :roll:

I checked my old TV Guide and HRH Donna Summer's daughter, Brooklyn Sudano (father Bruce Sudano of Brooklyn Dreams, get it???) is replacing the teen daughter on the Damon Wayans show "My Wife And Kids".

Also, HRH Miss Summer is signing her book her in LA on Friday evening at Book Soup. I'm tempted to go and tell her to visit us a discomusic.com--but then she might tell me she hates disco music and I'd feel a fool for bringin' it up. :oops:

Donna appeared in the movie Thank God It's Friday in 1978. Believe it or not, she got good reviews for her performance as Nicole Sims, although critics lambasted the movie as a whole. She also appeared on ABC's Family Matters as Aunt Noona from Altoona.

Britney, Mariah, Diana Ross, Glen Frey, Whitney Houston, Dionne Warwick. A lot have tried. And in a line from Dune:

"They tried and failed?"
"They tried and died."

Hollywood isn't a place you walk into and say, "Hi, I'm Donna Summer. I want to make some more movies." Maybe she didn't cut it the first time. Maybe she didn't like it or even want it. Maybe she decided to be with family first. Whatever, it's a little unfair to call her "too good" or "too proud" without knowing the why.

Many "singers" have attempted "acting" careers.

Some have succeeded big-time: Bing Crosby, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand, & Cher come to mind.

Others have had a measure of success: Miss Ross, Mick Jagger, Dolly Parton, Sting, Whitney Houston, Eminem...

Others did one thing or so--Donna Summer, Dionne Warwick, Mariah Carey---and never got any more offers.

Face it, it seems to be the RAPPERS who have the most success in the acting world these days. It's that street cred Hollywood wants, I guess. :roll:

Sorry, I didn't want to offend anyone. I was thinking of Cher when I did that remark. Cher was selling nothing when she did that Robert Altman movie; since then she has had more hits and probably sold more records than Donna. Mrs. Summer should take note, but it's probably too late now... at least by Hollywood's standards. :roll:
Maybe she explains that in that autobiography. I'm sure some of you guys will comment the book here in the forum (its chances to be translated to Spanish are next to none). I just hope it's not just boring diva commentary like the one Aretha Franklin did with David Ritz.
