LP from late 1970s What was this LP????

I used to go to a small Gay Bar back in the late 70s ... In the DJ Booth the DJ had a record cover hanging on the wall .... It was a fist on top of a Crisco can.... Anyone know what this LP was? Thanks!

'Crisco Can'? I think I know what you mean! If I'm on the right track, there's a small chance it might be the Passion LP on Prelude??????

Geez, I recall seeing this cover too. I keep thinking it was by Macho or something like that...but probably not.

Nicky or Graham should know. We once passed this way before, I think.

Well AMG says the Passion LP had a notoriously racy cover...but fails to show a picture...

    AMG review:
Passion was a New York-based disco outfit with a penchant for sensual, extended tracks flavored with funk and Latin rhythms. A brief and unsuccessful stint on AVI — which produced the single "Are You Free Tonight" — was followed by a more fruitful relationship with disco movers-and-shakers Prelude. Their first 12" single on the label was 1980's "Don't Bring Back Memories," which gained substantial club play along with its B-side, "In New York"; it was produced by multi-instrumentalist Ray Martinez. 1982 brought their biggest club hit, the Kashif-penned "Don't Stop My Love"; their final single, the Eric Matthew-produced "You Can't Hide It," was released in 1984. Their only album, Don't Stop My Love (initially released under the title Passion), later became a popular item among disco collectors, no doubt thanks in part to its notoriously racy cover photo.

    Hi Wallie,

    WELCOME TO THE BOARD

I don't think it's the Passion lp on Prelude. That guy has his hand on somebody's butt.

I'm trying to remember the lp you're talking about and I'm drawing blanks right now. I remember Crisco Disco, a friend of mine DJ'd there, but this lp cover isn't registering. I'm sure someone will pop up with an answer. Enjoy the site in the meantime.

Forrrce: I guess they didn't make Crisco overseas, eh? Crisco was a company that made cooking grease or lard, packaged in a blue and white tin can. Before Americans became health fanatics ( ) Crisco was used to cook or fry everything. In the 70's it was found to be useful for quite a few other things which I won't go into.

    NickNack,
I tried to find an online shot of the Passion cover to include, though the one Prelude LP gallery I found didn't have the damn thing on there! The hand on the sleeve is particularly, er, sunk into said posterior and I'd better shut up now, before I land myself in trouble.. :o

I'd heard 'Crisco Disco' as a term but didn't know what it entailed. Let's just say there'll be no more probing on the subject! (Sorry!)

I first heard about this product on Frankie Goes To Hollywood's 'Welcome to the Pleasuredome' LP from '84 & the track 'Crisco Kisses'. I can only assume (Steely, never assume as it makes an ass of u + me!) that it is an analogy for some depraved & fantastic sex act, but then again it could be perfectly innocent (but I doubt it if F.G.T.H.are involved!) :-?

I just can't imagine cover art like that on a cd having the same impact. Its just not the same!

Disco Vinyl LPs have some of the most outrageous, controversial and thought-provoking covers I ever seen, in my opinion.

Just when you thought it was all over - no, no, no

Yeah, Marky, it's Rod McKuen. Believe that? After DJ-Pir posted the pic I went out and found a copy. Had to have it. Now if I can only get that Macho lp that Graham and Jussi keep talking about. My promo is a plain white jacket. :x
